Obviously this film isn't for everyone, and I think if people are too conditioned to plot-driven high concept flicks it's not their fault, but if you like European films you'll dig this film. 9/10.
I actually thought it was too obsessed with plot intricacies and spent far to little time getting to know the characters and what motivated them which left me cold. I also (very generally) tend to like European films, but not this.

I always thought older people need their sleep, my OH is in bed already!
No I've been there a number of times before but we go on the bus -- we're not rich enough for the tube like you! I stupidly crossed by the non working traffic light instead of going back to the Ritz and crossing. Then we used David's phone which gave us a Mayfair Hotel in completely the wrong direction. So it was a messy start and I should have taken my A-Z or at least looked at a map before leaving to refresh my ever decreasing memory. And no -- not all older people go to bed early--some of us oldies keep FMUK going into the wee hours!

LOL, I didn't mean you but the folks at the 9.30pm screening which was apparently even more ancient than the 7.30pm group?

Ahem. When all we've got to type into search is "The Mayfair" and we're in Mayfair it might list multiple locations!

i found this actually quite boring and i was really really looking forward to it. it was a bit too complicated in parts i haven't got a clue as to why people where doing half of what they were doing, i got confused about people's names. the only one i ever got was smiley.

it was also reaaaally slow and hard work. it felt flat and lacked in any kind of real drama for me.

i liked the sound design and some of the visual effects that made it feel murkey and old and thought that some people played their parts brilliantly and others just didn't have any character at all (colin firth played a snore of a character in this, i just looked at him and wished i was watching any of his other films)

I reckon we (ucakpam and I) arrived at 6.20pm and indeed the room was full with a good proportion of grey hair and tweed jackets... no offence intended there!

We could not find 2 seats next to each other so we split last and before last rows and were discussing for 20 good minutes before the film started... sorry dear neighbours, but I hope we entertained you a little with our very exciting lives

Now for the movie... well, I don't know, I did not get everything... not sure it was because of the my lack of sleep or just the Shiteleys effect (it's both sticky and stinky there... lovely setting!)!
I was trying to keep my eyes open and ucakpam was trying to die silently! Poor thing! She has a pretty bad cold and her neighbour was apparently very scared to get contaminated :giggle:

I found the cast excellent but did not quite get the story; maybe reading the plot and watching it in normal conditions will help!

The only good thing of the evening was meeting the lovely ucakpam :cheer:

Edit: I am little dyslexic and your alias (ucakpam) is a nightmare for me... can't seem to be able write it properly!
It was really lovely meeting you too, Celini, and thanks again for the ticket! :D
Mental note: I should seriously consider changing my user name to something pronounceable.

I admit that I didn't manage to fully appreciate the film due to the so-called Shiteleys effect. My back was hurting because of the angle of the chair so I kept fidgeting all the time. And yes, my cold somehow managed to get so much worse during the screening -- an effect that's still ongoing. I was so embarassed when I suddenly started coughing and sneezing a lot. The gentleman seating next to me even placed a tissue over his mouth. :Embarrassed:
Nonetheless, I enjoyed the cinematography and the performances of the cast.
