I think going to a class is great for motivation and support, but if you want to get out and do something physical as well, this is cheap, easy and apart from the poles, doesn't need special gear.

Had a naughty little thought there!!......I think Mr Boop might get the wrong idea if I tell him I am think of b*ying poles!! xx

I forgot about your pole fetish! Sorry, this is an ultra-clean and healthy activity. Mr B isn't a fireman, by any chance?

But a_person, why put off until tomorrow what you can do today? It's a good time of year to start - I learned in January, when it was wet, windy and raw and still I was absolutely sold on it after one session.

Well I just googled it and it says you have to attend training. I don't like learning things like that on my own so I will have to go on a training which will cost money which means I'll have to pray for a better job as if I am to face redundancy I need to save every single penny I can get!

Did you look on nordicwalking.co.uk? I had lessons from a local teacher and chose one-to-one, to fit in with my shifts, but she provided the poles and I only needed 2 lessons. However, she ran classes, too, which was much cheaper - even with just 3 people it was then only £10 each, and you really don't need many, so overall it's cheap to learn. Once you know how, if you b*y your own poles, you can do it any time, anywhere.
