Edinburgh about 80% full but I didn't spot any of the regular FMUKers.

It was fluff and nonsence but I quite enjoyed it after a dull day at work.

6/10.

I was there - up near the back as usual - sorry didn't see you.

Very predictable. Far from being the best movie I have seen recently - but watchable. 5/10

I enjoyed this rom-com, fun and heartwarming, after a long and hard day at work, it is just what I needed, very easy to watch. And I did laugh too much, I think I was in a silly mood tonight, and found humour in almost everything. 7/10

Another well written review, David. Of course, I don't agree with you, although not the best rom com, I do like rom com fodder, so I am bias!

Went to Braehead tonight to see it. About 60% full so guessing most regulars went to Drive instead.

OH loved it whilst I thought it was alright. Typical standard rom com with a bit of rom and a bit of com. 6/10

FWB definitely much better! I gave that one 9/10. A whole lot better, actually no comparison.

First of all, it’s sexist. Can you imagine a film about a man being worried about the social stigma surrounding how many women he’s been with? He’d be celebrated. Why should a woman be concerned about being ‘unmarriageable’ for the same reasons. Double standards and Hollywood upholding Victorian values.

One moment that felt particularly misjudged occurs when Ally tracks down an ex who is an aspiring politicians, only to find out he’s gay. He then hilariously out-of-the-blue asks her to marry him because “America might be ready for its first black president, but not it’s first gay, black president!!” Oh my God! That is so funny! Ally is so desperate for a husband but the only man who wants to marry her is a gay guy! As depressingly accurate as the politician’s statement might be, to make a gag out of the situation was crude beyond belief. Cringeworthy.

I was transfixed watching the colour of her hair change with every scene.....Sorry what was the film about??????

Just messing. Yep, there were double standards, cringe worthy scences and the whole story of counting your 'loved' ones and telling people I found 'icky' - it had been a long day. I did have a few giggles but not enough to overcome my disapointment.

One wish with rom coms, can you move away from rich american family plot settings. Just a personal view.


The film in Cardiff developed a stutter in the middle and the audience had a bigger laugh over that. Funny how the 'minders' didn't report it. One was standing right next to me and did nothing but watch the audience/film and we were by the steps to the projectionists room.

I would give it 5/10
