I forgot to ask what seats he got. I'm seeing it tomorrow, so fingers crossed for a good allocation!

Yeah this is one show where I personally find seating very important. I've had circle seats for other musicals (We WilL Rock You and Wicked come to mind) which I've enjoyed just as much as stalls seats for the same show. But for RoA higher just seems less fun (no lighter for the ballads, less people singing along, no glitter/rose petals/dancing, etc)

For ROA I've found the view and legroom to be better in the Royal Circle, but agree the atmosphere is not as good. You do get deluged with streamers though. People have been leaving wrapped in them!

Good to know about the Royal Circle, Cliveas! Were you seated near the front of it? Still trying to figure out what tickets to p*rchase for my mum and I. She'll appreciate more legroom, but the atmosphere in the stalls counts for something too.

Oh we're famous now? A colleague of mine just acted all surprised when I was talking about going to Rock of Ages tonight as he thought I'd already seen it once. Oh if only he knew...

Has anyone heard of the new musical "Backbeat"? I just got some info over e-mail for it and it sounds like something I'd really like:

Backbeat – the adaptation of the 1994 film by Iain Softley on the birth of The Beatles – is rock 'n' rolling its way to London's Duke of York Theatre for its West End premiere.

Backbeat is the story of how the Beatles 'became' the Beatles – when John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe embarked on their journey from the famous docks of Liverpool to search for success in the seedy red light district of Hamburg.

The compelling triangular relationship between the band's original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe, the striking German photographer Astrid Kirchherr whom he fell in love with, and his best friend John Lennon, became an intrinsic part of The Beatles' story – and put them on an unstoppable trajectory onto the world stage.
