Ended up watching this last night, what a disappointment! For a film called Drive, there should have been more driving for a start!!! I didn't mind the violence but I just felt the storyline was seriously far-fetched. If the rest of the film had matched up to the first 5 minutes, we'd be talking about a great film. But for a film that hardly had any character development (we don't know who he is, where he came from, they just neatly brushed that aside didn't they) and little dialogue between characters (actions do speak louder than words I know but do we have to do the whole 10 minute lusting gaze at one another to signify his "love" for her??), the violence just felt forced, like the director had to put something shocking in for the sake of it seeing as the rest of it was so dull.

The marketing for the film actually really bothers me, the trailer makes it out to be something it isn't and completely misses the point. This isn't an action film, it's a very slow-paced drama and should have been re-named as such. Perhaps 'Staring Mutely At One Another Whilst Doing Very Little Driving At All' would be more apt?

Seen this again tonight, courtesy of O2 Priority moments and it did not disappoint the second time around!
I felt exactly the same tension, holding my breath for crazy long seconds during the silent scenes!

I am happy to have seen it again; this time 80% of the cinema was empty so it was much more quiet! There was much less popcorn munching and I would say a little less giggling during the tough/bloody scenes.

(But I guess I am probably the most unlucky person; or I just have an extremely sensitive sense of smell! The first time I saw Drive was at Clapham PH and the guy sitting behind me had a very disgusting breath; this time at Odeon Covent graden the girl behind me had very smelly feet!!!! I moved 4 seats sideways but I could still smell her!!!)

So.... West India Quay responded to my complaint of what happened at the Drive screening.

They mentioned:

- there staff should have known about the t-shirts but don't explain why they didn't know about it
- if I was unhappy I should have spoken to the duty manager (my e-mail stated I had spoken to the duty manager and he started providing me his opinion of what's right and what's wrong even though I was not remotely interested in his thoughts)
- customers shouldn't have been allowed entry and they are sorry about that
- there is no record of any light being switched on (so apparently I fabricated this or perhaps I was going blind!)
- a contradiction in the latter paragraph to say they had to switch it on due to health & safety which is why it was done on my visit. (As if that makes the situation okay! Do I honestly care if people fell off the stairs after arriving 30 minutes late? No.)

They do offer complimentary tickets for the "obvious disruption."

AFTER you get the complimentary tickets, a_person, I would write again and ask for a full apology and ask them to address each and every one of your points. Send your demand to the main office for Cineworld as well as WIQ and tell them you expect an answer within a certain number of days. And you might also tell them that you contribute to a number of film websites and the bad publicity will do nothing to enhance their reputation with film goers.

If enough of us keep on complaining about shoddy treatment maybe they will up their game. We can live in hope!

Isn't it just! Anyone have info on its release?

@QfwfQ - check out the link early on in this thread - Page 9 - for the YouTube sequence - it definitely makes my neck/back prickle!

Just listened again - brought a tear to my eye again for no apparant reason - three weeks later. Talk about a Pavlovian response.
