Is it a press screening this morning?
I read Paramount tweeting about it being a "multimedia screening" ...

I assume it is a press and multimedia screening.

There will probably be free tea, coffee, croissants, as well as activities for the kids.

Also, only *just* noticed the second part of the movie title... it's about unicorns? o.O

Are you saying there isn't free alcohol and there are no unicorns? I'm disappointed :(

I don't think that SFF would hire the entire Empire Leicester Square, like with Tower Heist they probably got a few spare tickets to distribute to what is essentially a press screening. So expect some second-class treatment. If I remember rightly, we were only allowed to sit in stalls at the Huge screening.

This morning's screening seems to be over and peeps are going crazy on twitter about it. Must be good then unless Paramount only retweets the good reviews, LOL.

I really enjoyed it, but it felt faaaaar too long. In fact I told Valda it was 2 hours and 15 minutes (because it felt like it!) but only just realised I was mistaken and it was more like 1 hour and 45 mins. Proper review tonight, I'm off to the Doctor Who Experience now!

At the Odeon this morning (thanks again to hdaniel82 for the tickets). Thankfully being treated exactly the same as the press unlike the Tower Heist screening last week.

I thought Tintin was great fun. The animation is glorious and the the usual problem with dead-eyed characters which has blighted Robert Zemeckis' attempts with motion capture are largely absent (or at least not as bad). It's also wonderfully detailed with lots of lovely little moments that can easily be missed on first viewing.
The action sequences are fun and exciting (one in Morocco fully justifies using motion capture rather than live action).
The script is witty and charming (though there's an 'animal husbandry' gag that will hopefully go over heads of the kids in the audience) and the voice-over work is great. Andy Serkis is predictably excellent though I also liked Toby Jones brief turn as the kleptomaniac Silk.
For Tintin fans there's a wonderful opening credits sequence that is done in the style of the original source material plus a wonderful visual gag using a street artist that means the first we see of Tintin's face is actually that of Herge's Tintin.
If I could fault the film, I would say that the film does drag a little about 2/3rds in and that it is a film that is probably easy to admire rather than love wholeheartedly. The animation is so breathtaking at times that it is a little easy to concentrate on that rather than getting swept up in the story. Oh and as I've probably said many times before the 3D is largely unnecessary.
Other than that Tintin is a fun ride and well worth seeing.
