I love political dramas, so I am going to give it a biased higher mark. For people who have not interest in primaries, polling and delegate counts or thinks "get down dirty with the elephant" means going to the zoo, there's a high probability you might be bored with this film. Yes it's a human tragedy at heart, but Clooney's passion for politics is so evident here, to the point I think it impairs film enjoyment for the non-political audience out there. This has been pretty evident in it's release in the States.

There's far too many cliches here, the dirty politcian, the idealistic newcomer and the obligatory intern. George Clooney and Philip Seymour Hoffman were surprisingly lacklustre bar maybe one or two scenes. Ryan Gosling was better, but still struggling to carry the film.

I did find the political machinations fascinating, but most people might be turned off by it. It's probably a very good TV episode but not a great feature film. 6.5/10

Was up in Leicester Sq tonight to watch a film courtesy of Orange Wednesday and got caught up with the premiere. Needless to say we decided to stay and get a glimpse of Mr Clooney rather than see One Day. Probably a better option as also saw Evan Rachel Wood and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Just got home and have a lovely email saying I've won tickets to see The Descendants tomorrow night. Double helpings of Gorgeous George.....

This one is going to be interesting then as there is nothing that I despise more than politics!!!
I hope I won't be too biased by Gosling/Clooney screen presences :D

edit: actually I think I despise politics but I really admire politicians; they are so freaking clever and manipulative (same goes for the bankers!)... you may think I am a rather odd person now!

I am sure alot of reviewers will say you don't have to like politics to watch this film, but if you have followed George Clooney's career, he's always been a political animal and his films are filled with political messages

Look's like a good film, I'm not really into political affair's but they do tend to make good film's, also a fan of Paul Giamatti, I think he is an amazingly watchable actor

I really enjoyed this film and love George Clooney's politics (not just him!). Paul Giamatti was as superb as usual, Philip Seymour Hoffman also etc. An all round top class film.
