I do think it was excessive too, we arrived just before 1pm and were seated very soon after, so it was a 90 minute wait with children which is really unfair to expect them to sit quietly for that, free screening or not, also the type of adverts the majority being sweets and sugary cereal, aimed at the kids. Why couldn't the adverts have been started at 1.30pm, vast majority of people were in by then.prettyxcool wrote:I complained online:soonforgotten wrote:In case anyone wants to be bitchy like me and give Cineworld a bollocking for 30 minutes of adverts prior to Tintin at the O2 yesterday, here's the email address: customer.services@cineworld.co.uk

I agree with you sf. It is far too excessive - so if you arrived as requested by Sky at 1pm for a 2pm start, that's an hour and half wait before the film starts, and if you have other plans, that will make you half an hour late too.

If I'd pa*d, 30 minutes would be the cut-off. If it were free, I'd give the organisers carte blanche to do whatever they wished.soonforgotten wrote:Obviously, you're entitled to your opinion. I would just ask at what point for you would it be too long?
I guess I see the ads as being motivation for Sky & Cineworld to be able to host such screenings in the first place. It's a small trade-off for me, though I do understand how others could find it inconvenient.

No, I think many would agree, probably most. I see your point too. But there is a line to draw with how long they delay a film and just because its free doesnt mean we lose any rights to complain about any issues. I'm thinking wether 30mins is actuallybeyond that line because when we go to concerts, sometimes the acts start even later than that and its seems almost traditional. Oh boy my decision making is always a bit unstable the more I think about something like this...but I will still write to them, there's no harm to make them aware and improve their services.jramjee wrote:This is going to make me extremely unpopular with you guys but personally, the movie theater is the last place in the world where I'd expect anything to run on schedule. I wouldn't risk it if I had important plans afterwards. I also wouldn't complain because sometimes their tardiness has worked in my favour (*cough* Jubilee Line delays *cough*)

30 minutes seem really long!
Usually Sky send a reel of trailer/ad to be projected before the main feature (I learned that from the Odeon Swiss Cottage Manager); maybe Cineworld got it really wrong this time, and put 2 reels back to back?

Or maybe started it at the wrong time. If the say the movies going to start at a certain time, then it should.

Re: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
Personally I really rather not wait at all past the promised start time. Especially considering the fact that O2 screenings now list you have to get there 1 hour before the start of the movie. So with an added 30min delay and a movie that lasts at least 1.45 hours nowadays (though usually well past 2 hours) that means half my day is gone just because I went to see 1 movie! A start time is there for a reason, if you leave at the last possibly moment or you think you may delayed because of crappy public transport either leave a little earlier or tough luck.

Maybe the projectionist went to see 'The Ides of March' and had trouble getting back to The O2?
