Re: Tower Heist
Watched this tonight at Cineworld Greenwich which was 95% packed. Got there for 6pm to find a mean Virginmedia lady waiting at the door. She got quite airy with me as I didn't have tickets in my name (
) and I clearly could not pass off as Cliveas. After scrutinising my tickets for about 2 minutes, she asked me to produce ID which of course I wouldn't have as I'm not Cliveas afterall. Thank f**k I asked Cliveas to send me the change of name email as having done so I handed that over with ID for my name. She reluctantly let me in and her sidekick, gave me a bag of toffee popcorn. After that, I was greeted by the security who had to watch me switch my phone off and then had to state, "Don't even think about switching that phone on when you go into the screen as I have a detector on me [shows detector] and will detect your phone and escort you out of the film. You are the first set of people to see it." "Errr, sorry I think you are mistaken - there has already been a preview of it which I also held tickets for." Then walked off smugly...
Of course I switched my phone back on as soon as I got into the screen a) I needed to know the time b) I had 25 minutes to kill...
Movie started at 6.30pm but I think I must be cursed and f**king late fuckers follow me where ever I go. Late fuckers came into the screening all the way until 7pm. Luckily no mofo blocked my view today although I was still a bit f**ked off as to why they were allowed in as they still made noise and were going up and down the stairs looking for seats. There were lots at the front so just shut your f**king mouth and go sit there.
It's what happens when you're late. There were the normal ass holes who expected everybody to move up for them, luckily not in my row as the seats were almost all full except the one next to me.
As for the movie, well.. I enjoyed some of the first half but it just started to go down hill a short way after. It's a cheap, easy thrill with some funny moments but overall a rather dull and unexciting script. A very simple and extremely predictable plot, it really could have been better. Some jokes left me
although the rest of the audience seemed to be laughing and I really didn't know what was supposed to be funny. I would say most of the funny bits are perhaps in the trailer (which is what prompted me to want to watch this). I was starting to get a bit bored near the ending and this could have been executed in 90 mins me thinks. I totally agree with kevinknapman - the ending was crap and corny.
This perhaps would be enjoyed by an audience who are looking for something that they couldn't give two hoots about with some funny elements - as that is really the sort of film it is. Or those who find everything that's implied to be funny, funny - I'm afraid I didn't find all the jokes hilarious.

I thought exactly the same thing too kk and if it was to create tension, it wasn't really explored or gone into great depth so seemed completely pointless to even suggest that in the film.[/spoiler]kevinknapman wrote: Why would an employee who is considered a useless waster and disliked by the boss, get rehired in a higher position despite only getting fired not long before? There was no logical reason for it. Even taking into consideration the fact that his wife was pregnant, it still didn't make any sense. There was no scene that actually justified it. It just seemed shoe-horned in to create tension between him and the Stiller character.

I was tempted to ask AYBG for admin rights to his SQL database so I could erase all traces of my inferior ex-username.

Re: Tower Heist
i suppose on one hand it was really good she actually bothered checking IDs or at least the tickets but on the other hand why be mean about it as it is her job as an agent to Virgin to be all nice to their p*ying customers.a_person wrote:a mean Virginmedia lady waiting at the door. What did it look like and do exactly? Intrigued that it can detect your mobile signals and then led you out of the screen or does he mean he will do that part and not the machine?a_person wrote: After that, I was greeted by the security who had to watch me switch my phone off and then had to state, "Don't even think about switching that phone on when you go into the screen as I have a detector on me [shows detector] and will detect your phone and escort you out of the film

Re: Tower Heist
I didn't mind her asking me for ID at all. Just not sure what the rudeness was all about. I didn't see anyone else getting ID'd so would love to hear from others who were at Greenwich whether they were ID'd or not as that's a bit unfair if it was just me.Yinster wrote: i suppose on one hand it was really good she actually bothered checking IDs or at least the tickets but on the other hand why be mean about it as it is her job as an agent to Virgin to be all nice to their p*ying customers.
I think he was lying as it just looked like a torch to me and funnily enough once the movie started he only came back to switch on the torch to show people where to sit - didn't see no phone detectors and if it was there it was totally shit as it didn't pick up on my phone signal as mentioned.Yinster wrote: What did it look like and do exactly? Re: Tower Heist
We were also asked to switch off our phones at the Trocadero, but mine was on throughout the movie. No, I'm not a social-network/BBM obsessed heathen. It actually switched itself on when the power button hit my keys & because I keep it permanently on vibrate anyway, I didn't feel the need to switch it off again.
I'm fairly certain they don't have such detectors on hand & they were merely trying to intimidate y'all.
They didn't ask us for ID though, which is good because it was in my cousin's name.
