Re: Trespass
The Trespass screening I went to had a member of staff outside stopping you from going anywhere else so it all depends on the cinema and screen it's in. He was there showing people in and at the end so I assume he was there the whole time as it's at the top of the stairs where he would direct people to other screens.

Re: Trespass
Unsurprisingly mediocre film that is far too dumb to work as an effective home invasion thriller. Taut smart plotting is replaced by endless scenes of people shouting at each other and pointing guns at each other, often at the same time. Which in the minds of the writer and Joel Schumacher is presumably supposed to keep us on the edge of our seats but soon becomes tedious. The fact that the main characters are so poorly written makes it hard to care what happens to them and whether they live or die. Also I wasn't entirely sure whether the bad guys were actually supposed to be as stupid as they clearly are or if it was just bad screenwriting.
Increasingly illogical and with characters acting in ways that make no sense, it also throws in some painfully clunky foreshadowing. So will the bend in the road that the daughter nearly gets driven into at the beginning play a part later on? Hmm. How about when the random friend who decides to show her his father's secret stash of money? Now let me think. And why is Nic Cage fondling that piece of hardboard wall in the part of the house being renovated at the start (or maybe that was Nicole Kidman)?
None of the actors come out of this with any credit. Nic Cage does his usual insane shouty thing (though not enough to make this a guilty pleasure). Nicole Kidman fails to find anything of interest in her character and remains a one-dimensional bland presence. Cam Gigandet puts in a laughable performance that gets worse as his character is revealed to be something of a psychopath. Which means Trespass is the latest in a run of poor films for him (after the likes of Burlesque and Priest) and makes Easy A look more and more like an anomaly in a career of drivel.
Most depressingly however was the presence of the usually reliable Ben Mendelsohn. Especially coming after his excellent performance as Pope in Animal Kingdom. Hopefully he'll get to redeem himself with Cogan's Trade and The Place Beyond the Pines (I can't stress too highly how much I'm looking forward to seeing those films).
Oddly I would have preferred it if the film had been really really bad, rather than just dull and mediocre. Then I might have actually felt something about it. It's definitely no Batman & Robin that's for sure. It's just rubbish.

Re: Trespass
Depends on the cinema I guess (as elski's post shows).Beate wrote:I wonder whether once could sneak into other films with Trespass tickets...
There was nobody at Shepherd's Bush though and it probably would have been easy to go into another screen.

Re: Trespass
What is so bad about that? I actually enjoyed this tonight. Glad I went. Very strange to be one of only 4 in cinema - on a Saturday night too. Surely everyone can't have been watching Z-Factor?
This is really fairly entertaining (more so being free of course) and certainly would be a good TV movie. I wouldn't rate the acting particularly, and it was rather contrived, but for a couple of hours of relaxing and noit having to think too hard it is definitely passable.
I'd have to give it about 4 or 5/10. Not a blockbuster and no Oscar material. Nor will I be rushing to b*y soundtrack....but hey - it really isn't that bad!
As said above they had the tickets pre-printed on 8th but for this performance. A really strange arrangement, but I think it is a good one. Definitely avoids clashes and you choose when suits you best.

Re: Trespass
After being steered away from Immortals after reading the reviews on here I almost choose to do the same with Trespass, but I think the flexible viewing time and short film duration just about persuaded me to give it a go.
Well, as most people have said it's rubbish, the plot feeling like it was made up as they went along and early moments screaming out 'This will be important!!!' - the lighter etc. Anyone else think of Lethal Weapon 2 when Nic Cage walked into the half finished extension?
I read somewhere that it's a B movie with A list stars, but that's giving it too much credit, B movies tend to have a few more thrills and more coherent plots - waving guns around and swearing isn't tense or exciting, it's very dull.
And wasn't Nicole Kidman the biggest female star in the world a few years ago? What has happened that she's resorted to this?
Almost the worst preview I've ever seen and it would take a lot to persuade me to see another Nic Cage film anytime soon.
