This may go some way to explaining his recent dubious decisions. http://www.nbcbayarea.com/blogs/popcorn ... 66244.html
This MUST be behind his newest films .......he just needs the money! :tears:

He already has five films lined up for 2012 including the Ghost Rider sequel. Financial survival obviously comes before quality.

Yes this film was definitely shite. What was even worse was having to go to watch it at Streatham odeon, which was dark dingy and smelly. It was particularly annoying having to sit next to a couple who came in late and then proceeded to talk as if they were by themselves in their front room - no bloody etiquette.

After that rant, I think I'll make myself feel better by watching yesterday's Corrie - yes I'm that cultured ;)

Corrie was sad!

You're right it has been really sad lately, what with poor Schmeichel & Cheryl doing the dirty on Lloyd.
Nevertheless it's great stuff.

Trespass 3/10 (i'm being generous) Corrie 10/10

On paper, these 2 films sounded great, I dont see what his financial difficulties would have anything to do with making these films. Every film is a gamble.

Every big star from Laurence Olivier to Harrison Ford has made a string of "dissapointing" or "bad" films. Often, it happens when they get older. Everyone had their peaks, some more than once. bringing their rumoured financial affair into the reasoning behind their workload is imho, irrelevant. I imagine Nicolas Cage just wants to choose the scripts that sound interesting and different as well as making the safe action movie that guarantees him income from his fan base. Also, he's at the age where scripts become more limited in range (possibly). If he was desperate he would stick to being stereotyped but he doesnt.

Whatever, if right now he wants to be more prolific meaning more mediocre to ok films then good on him. He deserves it, he has entertained us for over 2 decades in great films from Rumblefish to Raizing Arizona to Con Air and in my mind he still cuts it as a major big screen star.

It annoys me when old big stars get slaughtered for some poor movies they make. But I guess thats nature.

Went to see this on Monday lunchtime and me and hubby were the only two people in the whole cinema. We both enjoyed it but don't think I particularly would watch it again.

Hold on...this film was out on general release since last Friday. So these were all just free screenings this week of an already released film. Has this happened before? If so what films? The marketing seems to be very low key, I havent even seen this featured at all on Film 2011. Rottentomatoes only has 10 top critics reviews.

Anyway, in case the film is as bad as you lot make it out to be, I will run there and back to at least get some exercise out of the evening :)

I have just come to the conclusion that I am rather odd. I know you lot knew this a long time ago but I am slow to catch on..guess you knew that too.

Well my self revelation came to fruition shortly after watching this film because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nic Cage was pretty awesome again. In fact he was even better here than in Justice. Always nice to see Nicole Kidman too. As with Justice, the film takes liberties with plausibility but otherwise this was another good thriller and some nice plot twists, implausible maybe but I am a sucker so it goes down well with me.

I am really sorry most critics are not enjoying this for what it is but I am glad to see there are a couple of odd folks like me who do ;)

7.5/10
