I saw this last night. I'm sorry to say, I think 3.4 on imdb is being generous. I spent most of the film waiting for something to happen or for it to end.

I found Andrea Riseborough in the lead role so annoying that I could not sympathise with her in any way. I would happily have handed her over to the Gestapo myself!

She was also so pale and feeble looking I found it very hard to believe that she had been living the tough outdoor life of a Welsh hill farmer.

The best thing I can say about the experience is that the seats at 20th Century Fox are very comfortable.

Ethan Runt's review: http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/articles/film/resistance

Did they actually make it worse since we saw it?

It's just that I don't remember it being THAT bad. I gave it a 7/10 I think back then.

Thanks bevvy, guess I won't be missing much tonight.

Perhaps that's why ejwrank didn't bother writing a review, she thought it wasn't review worthy! :shifty:

I do recall feeling it could have been so much better, and more credible. And emerging sunk in gloom and being really glad that it was a bright spring day outside, with lots of people out and about, having fun.

Nope, a_person I was just too lazy last night. This was nicely shot and the Welsh hills and valleys looked stunning. I guess I just didn't really 'get' the film. Maybe I wasn't clever enough or maybe the story wasn't well told-- I'm not sure. I wouldn't be as hard as Bevvy on Andrea Riseborough though she looked far too fragile to be a farmer's wife. The Fox Screening Room on Soho Square was great though. Comfy seats that rock back, loads of leg room. Beate would approve. We sat in what would have been her and OH's seats in the middle of the back row.

As for imdb score of 3.4 -- I saw that but when I looked at the listing later I saw it was marked 7 so it is going up.

I agree about the Fox screen, dangerously close to falling asleep twice this past week there. I think they're better than Sony, officially.
