Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
I started watching American Horror Story last night, I only watched the pilot which was a bit strange but I've heard it gets better so I'll see how it goes.

I prefer to watch something like that in its best presentation, Raj, particularly having the surround sound experience of bullets coming from different directions, a war plane coming from behind and a tank suddenly coming up to my left. Its very immersive and makes me feel very jumpy with the soldiers on screen. The HD visual also gives that enhanced reality. BoB deserves to be watched in that way to get at least a fraction of what it felt like to be there on D Day. I have now seen the 4th episode. This series is so compelling considering this is based on a true story events.raj101 wrote:its on youtube in excellent quality at the mo, am up to episode 2. Its all too realistic...but of course essential and incredibly compelling. Watching this series is perhaps the closest you can get to really feeling what being at war is like and in a way I am sure war veterans will appreciatr. I am watching a Blu ray boxset which include fascinating accounts by the real veterans that relates to each episode. Highly recommend getting yhis box set as it can be b*ght cheaply now.
quick update - almost finished Game of Thrones. Wat a humdinger of a series. Not sure what I'm going to do to fill the gap...Merlin? Legend of the Seeker??!
Also started on the Prisoner remake. This is probably the most trippy tv I have ever watched. Intriguing, rather stupid, somewhat vacuous? - thats just some of the words I should use to describe myself for watching this wierd shit. hmmm...

I have still to see Band of Brothers-it's a series I've wanted to see for a while now. My school choir, led by my music teacher at the time (apparently dressed as a nun) feature in one episode - if you find out which episode features a choir, please let me know! :)

oh yeah, i dont bother with HD because my projector isnt HD compatible(although its not far off a normal tv's quality). I go with size instead, which it manages very well. Its like having portal on my wall that leads into a warzone!

I've watched a few bits here and there. I just can't believe how serious the American girls are over some stuff but it's alright tv i guess. Doesn't make the British girls look very good thoughandrews wrote:Is anyone watching Sorority Girls? OMG

We watched The Ghost with Ewan Macgregor and Piers Brosnan. Quite good but all a bit predictable. Could have done more with it I thought...

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
Completed watching my blu rays of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy last night after starting it several days ago. The way I like to view these glorious epics are by watching the extended editions of the first two, then the theatrical version of the final one. I hate the extended edition of the final film, it doesn't flow well and I don't like how its edited. The theatrical version is the perfect version. I know we got the Hobbit "duology" of films coming but frankly, there will never be anything like LOTR, never. Yeah, I'm so pessimistic, arent I? But LOTR is a one off miracle of epic brilliance.

Do you not think the ending of the third one goes on way too long?

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
its just trying to reflect the book, Anakin. If you read it, you dont really want it to end, its that sumptuous a work.
The story wasnt just about depicting the Fall of Sauron, but the end of the age of Elves and the rise of Man, which Jackson admirably strove for. They offer some of the most gorgeous scenes in the trilogy, I was numb for days after the titles went up on the final film. In reality, I would have been happy if the movie had gone on another two hours, being a true fan - although a fall in replay value is the opportunity cost of that.
I have decided to watch the extended trilogy only after the Hobbit movies now.
