Margaret

Don't know if there is another thread for this already, search function has been totally useless today, wouldn't even find The Help thread when I tried to search earlier and we definintely have a thread for that!

Why is Fox trying to bury Margaret?

I suddenly remembered when reading the article that I saw a trailer at the cinema for this AGES ago... at the beginning of the year? possibly even last year and totally forgotten about it I don't even think it had a title. And now it's had a really quiet release

I was standing outside the lone cinema yesterday afternoon as the doors finally decided to open 3 minutes after the ads had begun, queue was around the block to p*y to see this film.
The final cut issues are evident, abrupt scene ends, odd continuity match-edits, some key scenes are mentioned without really getting focussed on, yet somehow the 150 minute epic indie drama comedy still works, and Anna Paquin gives an absolutely astonishing performance, is she a mean person, is she naive, is she someone wanting drama in her life? I'm still not sure, but I'll see it again when the dvd hits. Can't imagine this going blu if they have the confidence of a sole site release.

The shelved life evidence is quite clear on-screen as a character waits outside a cinema showing Flightplan, Serenity and The 40 Year Old Virgin.

I just tried looking for it on the eventful site to demand it but I can't find it even if I change my location to London. (and not even listed under this week's releases)

Here's my take on Margaret: http://londonfilmfanatiq.com/2011/12/05 ... -margaret/

Loads to digest in the film, but very much worth the effort.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Great review o/ and I try not to read reviews of films I've not seen but in this case I don't know if I'll get a chance if they don't increase the release.
I'm still mystified why they played trailers for this across the country many months ago (like they would for a blockbuster) and then this but I guess maybe that was before all the legal problems.
