Beate, I offer you my Harry Brown tickets on 2nd Nov but its in Surrey Quays and it seems you dont like that venue either?!? I think Surrey Quays is excellent. Decent seats and very steep so that no one gets in anyone's view. At least in most screens its like that.

I also agree with you on LAC today. Top script. Not a fan of Jamie Fox though but its the avenging father that I was most impressed with. Excellent movie with some rare intelligent plotting.
My film reviews here . ......My FMUK 2014 ratings.......My FMUK 2011 ratings.......My FMUK 2013 ratings . ......My FMUK 2012 ratings .

Do you have a VR headset? If so, maybe we can play a physical sports game or even be sports/fitness partners, hit me up if you keen.

Thanks for the offer but I haven't got a clue how to get to Surrey Quays. At least I know how to get to the Odeon Greenwich even though it is a little long-winded.

Beate wrote:Wow, finally a film with a plot! And a good one at that. It kept you in suspense all along, wondering how that guy could kill all those people from his prison cell? Strong acting from Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, who really should stick to these kind of films and give the rom-coms a miss! The OH pronounced it a cracker and gave it a 10/10, I am giving it a more moderate 8/10 for keeping me entertained throughout, even though it was a bit bloody now and then. Nice twist at the end! The only thing that didn't make sense was that they said the whole city was scared and kids didn't go to school etc - every fool could see he was just killing people who had anything to do with the law system itself.
Totally agree, what a brilliant film not normally my type of film but fantastic acting and it kept me entertained. But must say Gerard Butler was also fabulous in Phantom of the Opera!

An ok film, badly let down by the end (and even some bits in the middle). I'm all for leaving reality at the door when going to the flicks, but seriously -
this guy had tunneled under an entire prison? And Jamie Foxx took a bomb back into the prison? And then killed Butler before popping off to watch his daughter play cello with absolutely no fallout? I could go on.....
5/10

I thought the film was good but not great. I found it quite far fetched but I was impressed with the way it unravelled and I found myself feeling less and less sympathy for Butler's character (which I also agree was a good fit for him).

I think the reason why everyone was scared was because he did say he will get 'everyone' (and when someone is unhinged you are not sure how this goes!), plus it didn't look like the press were reporting it in full detail - they just said that these attacks were at an unprecedented level with very random methods - anyone could have been caught up in his madness. 6.5/10 from me. I think I am scoring this quite harshly as this genre is my favourite, so I expect a lot. I was a bit disappointed.

Beate - Surrey Quays is not too difficult to get to once you know where you are going. It is actually one of my favourite cinemas. The screen they used for Sweeney Todd was magnificent! It seems to be a lot more modern that Greenwich. They also have the funny and friendly security guard. There is the issue that there are very few alternative travel links if the jubilee line is down, which does make it potentially awkward. Probably more convenient if you can drive down.

count yr blessings it takes me an hour and a half each way to get to and from my screenings!!!!!

anyway boyf loved this (i think he's all rom-commed out) he gave it 8/10, hmmm i'll be generous and give it 7.5/10 all in all really stupid and implausible but it did keep me entertained and it did have a story (unlike the dreary An Education!) it's the sorta film I'd probably come across late one night on bbc1 and end up watching til the wee hours cos i'd find myself hooked. gateshead was blinking freezing tonight and only about 75% full with one couple who came in after half an hour had passed and it was nice to see a totally different tone of trailers with it being an 18 screening. tbh i think my kids would've liked this one too and i didn't think there was anything too bad in it so i'm surprised at it's 18 rating. alll in all one of the better one's i've seen in recent weeks, i can think of worse ways to spend a tuesday night.

Have to say it one of the best films that i’ve seen in a long while, thought it was apt how Jamie Foxx played the cello in The Soloist and his daughter played the cello in this film.

ooh the most awful thing happened to me yesterday when I went to see this....it was supposed to take me half an hour to get to Holloway Road to see the movie so planned to get there at 6:00 just incase....but london travel went crazy on me!! and I got there at 7:25!!! The lady at the cinema was nice enough to say I could go in but she warned me that half the film has already gone so I didn't go in the end :( :( :(
