Kill List
Re: Kill List
Absolutely no qualifications in film for me either so I will have to join soonforgotten in the uneducated class! Oh dear, what a snob. You don't need qualifications in critical theory or film or whatever to say Tehran or not a film worked for you. It's up to your own judgment as a viewer to have a relationship with the film and everyone's opinion is equally valid as long as you back it up.

Re: Kill List
What an arrogant idiot.
Re: Kill List
I thought your review was extremely well written as are the others in your blog.
Such an arrogant attitude, criticising someone because of their lack of qualification in critical film study.
This film had rave reviews 5 stars in Total Film, 4 stars in Empire but pretty much everyone on here hated it.
Like soonforgotten I fell someone in between. Without delving into spoiler territory the story does not really hang together as sf pointed out in his review.
In the Q&A at the Prince Charles someone asked the question whether the cast 'got it' after reading the script. Not one of them really gave a straight answer. Even the director seemed woolly when asked what is was all about!
I thought the most telling answer was when he talked about the use of imagery as a starting point and writing a script from there.
For me, the film did have some unforgettable scenes, the ending in particular. It is just a shame that some plot points/clues are nonsensical.

Re: Kill List
I didn't think this was very good, especially given the hype. The third act is an absolute mess and the final twist is ridiculous and laughable.

Re: Kill List
I finally got around to watch this this morning! What a very odd way of kicking off a sunny weekend
I have to say I am quite glad I haven't seen that in cinema as I would not have understood half of the dialogues! Between the very loud sound effects/score, the lead accent and the fact that he is mumbling so much, I was extremely glad to have access to the subtitles!
For me the story was alright to follow (even though lots of stuff remains mysterious to me!) but unfortunately very predictable and way too rushed in the last 10 minutes, but it stayed very tense and gripping till the end! What annoyed me most was the very inconsistent cinematography going from brilliant to extremely poor from one shot to another!
A part from that I thought the performances were excellent all along! I think I liked it very much!
8/10
Edit: I really like this feeling of confusion after watching a movie; this very feeling that makes you want to understand what happened in the last 90 minutes and read all the theories/reviews that have been written about it.
I felt that for the Awakening earlier and now for Kill List!
