oh I'm just making a passing comment about something that irritated me. I've just seen hopeprince's post describing it as a sad film... maybe it was a different Like Crazy she saw as I didn't find it sad at all.

In fact it felt like the whole thing was building to the one funny/awkward moment towards the end (final dinner with the parents) you could hear the whole audience have the same reaction.

I can't really garner much from these short reviews, especially the one word ones!

I thought this was total tripe. What a stupid and silly pair they were. And it doesn't take a lot of brains to know that overstaying your visa in the USA is a big no-no. A complete waste of time.

The only redeeming thing about the evening was chatting with hdaniel beforehand. Very glad to see her so we could moan together afterwards!

Terrible film, but don't forget he didn't just make an Ikea type chair, he also made a box for his ex girlfriend to carry her stuff out of the apartment.

1/10

Saw this at Holloway Road in the smallest room known to man. They let people in 15 minutes late, said person climbed over me, ate smelly doritos and spoke a lot. Lovely.

Things I didn't like: the shot of their feet early on (someone had gross feet), shaky-cam, the futility of it all, the lack of continuity (the club shot showed a text in December then suddenly it was May), the lack of time scale - sometimes we skipped forward a couple of weeks, sometimes full months, and
the fact that these two kids were ridiculous - why did her parents not just shake her (and him) and "say stop being so flipping ridiculous, it's your own fault, so get on with your life and stop bringing other people into your web"! And also, if you are a Junior Editor at a magazine in London, they would surely help you find a job in the US.
That aside, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. It's not one I'd bother watching again. I did think it was sad and I did feel for them, but as time went on
I felt less sorry for them, and just felt for the new boyfriends / girlfriends (seriously, how stupid was Sam - why would anyone go back??!!)
.

The good: it's well acted, the parents are delightful, the scene towards the end with the parents made me CRINGE (also is it me or does that guy look like a skinnier David Bekham?)... and at least at first, I really did think they were a lovely couple...

I think the problem is that the outcome
is a bit predictable
and although they are likeable as a couple, I for one did not like Anna, because she brought it all on herself. You don't mess with US customs! EVERYONE knows that!

5/10 (because it pulled on my heart strings a couple of times)

As an aside, Felicity Jones' smile reminds me so much of my friend Tom. They could be siblings!!!!

It was a long slow film, at one stage I thought it was 20:50 but alas it was 19:50. The filming was very amateurish, felt more a docudrama. I thought there was going to be a focus on courtrooms or something of that nature but no. Almost on the same line as Dear John except not glossy. His drawings/designs were very amateur almost like school projects. I felt no sympathy with the couple, only with the new partners they dumped to be together. I actually preferred Haywire, despite it being a pile of pooh.

What didn't make sense about that was
why he didn't move to London when she was first refused entry. I'd eat my hat if he started an amazing business that he couldn't leave within 2 months.
I can't think of one positive thing to say about this film.

That was my point he didn't seem particularly talented. Even if the film was on a tight budget they could have gone along and borrowed from a real furniture designer ask to show off a few of their pieces for a bit of exposure or something. His amazing and successful business & career just wasn't believable. I guess ultimately it's an american film and they think we all want to go and live there.
