Re: Young Adult
Good God was that boring or what.
Arrived really early at WIQ and was told to go wait in the bar. Yeah, right. Managed to find the screen number by asking the usher upstairs, but wasn't let through to that area so started the queue right there in front of him. That'll teach him. Was joined by hdaniel82, bevvy and a_person soon. I don't think our screening was 100% full but we had the obligatory phone addict to our left in the last row and some talkers somewhere to the right.
Seriously, this was meant to be a comedy? It wasn't funny once. Charlize Theron was deeply unlikeable and all other characters bland. Boring story that had no real beginning or ending. Whatever happened to Jason Reitman? I loved his Up in the Air!
4/10 or so.

Re: Young Adult
Even if the film had been good, Mr G, it was surely worthwhile to meet the deadline for submitting your return or it could have been a very costly "free" film! (Although there is still tomorrow...)

Re: Young Adult
At Hatfield, at 6.30 the lights went down and the sky movies logo appeared on the screen then....nothing. The logo just stayed there, then the lights came back on, then dimmed again, then came back on, then dimmed again etc. One of the cinema staff said the programme listed the film start time as 6.45pm.elski wrote:stuartboy wrote:Aww. That's not fair - you got trailers. Lol. Usually I can't bear sitting through trailers, but I'd make an exception with this.
yeah trailers have started to become a regular thing at Odeon, if they stick to them I will bother to get there earlier as it's always so boring if I get there just after six. It makes sense really we're all sat there waiting for 6:30pm they may as well show us some other films they'll be showing.

Re: Young Adult
I tend to agree with everyone else.. Pretty poor..
I did force myself to laugh a couple of times just to be polite as it was a "comedy" but in truth I would have rather had helped Mr Glass with his tax returns or gone shopping with a sweaty Celini

Re: Young Adult
Really enjoyed this, even if I am in the minority. Not boring in the slightest. Engaging from start to finish and very well acted by Charlize Theron. I'm off to download some Teenage Fanclub...

Re: Young Adult
Saw this at Wandsworth tonight. Also thought it was boring. And was really looking forward to it:(.
It kinda reminded me of a couple of Sandra bullock movies mixed together. 28 days and forces of nature
Film just didn't work

Re: Young Adult
It's never a good sign when you want to give the heroine a good shaking (Like Crazy anyone) and the parallel stories didn't really do anything for me. Some of the acting was ok. Why did she have a dog and wouldn't it have peed if she left it so long?
Wimbledon was full and it was like being in a crunchy fish and chip shop. Everyone went Eww! when she spat on the printer cartridge.

Another thing to add to
her prison sentence, constant drink-driving and animal cruelty
(in my eyes of what the ending should have been.)

Re: Young Adult
Just saw this at the Trocadero. Weird that they checked ID and yes it must have been full (I got there early for a change), there was a woman sitting on the stairs near us.
Happily, I have seen 5 free films this year (quite a record for me only 1 month in) but this is definitely one I could have not bothered watching. I thought CT's acting was good, I liked Matt the most... but it was a bit nothingy. Nothing really happens. It's hard to even say much about this film... more cringey moments than laughs. My mum said it was two hours of her life she'd never get back.
Would I suggest going to see it to others? Might as well if it's free but only if you have nothing better to do...
A generous 5/10.
PS Celini, what did you b*y???
