Re: Young Adult
I wouldn't go as far as 10/10, but I think we are in the minority here, I quite liked this film. I like Jason Reitman's directorial style too.
However I do see why this film has bombed out of site at the box office over in the States. Mavis is a much less likeable character than say Juno or Ryan Bingham, the story arc doesn't quite go where you would expect it to and who would p*y for a ticket to see an alcoholic home wrecker? The story is ever so slight as well.
But somehow I really find the story interesting and his films very therapeutic. I think Jason Reitman must have brainwashed me when I met him at a Q&A a few years ago..... 7/10

Re: Young Adult
Agree completely with you funthing29 except it was mind-numbingly boring. I was really looking forward to this but 30 mins into the film I was just hoping she'd shut the f**k up and grow up. I've never wanted to slap anyone on screen as much as I wanted to slap her. Arghhhhhhhh. If it wasn't for hd sitting next to me, I would have just walked out of this screening. There was nothing I enjoyed about this film - 0/10.funthing29 wrote:This was pants. Boring, uninteresting, dull script, unlikeable lead character and no comedy (despite being listed as a comedy on imdb). I yawned throughout and if I had been watching this on TV, I would have changed the channel. 4/10.

Re: Young Adult
Another dreadful film. 2012 seems to already have its quota of awful stuff. Boring, boring, boring. Oh, did I mention that it was boring?
Trocadero once again overbooked and had to turn people away and I think 2 people sat on the stairs in the aisle. They asked for IDs but they didn't glance to see if the names matched -- maybe because I took out my Donor Card and they thought it would be mean to look at it too closely. So that's something to remember if your tickets are in someone else's name -- just show your donor card and hopefully they'll let you through.

Lol @ ejwrank - good thing those tickets were in your name.
We were discussing all the things we should be saying to the WIQ staff for making us wait in that stupid bar (which of course none of us did

Oh? I thought it was just me. The burly dude asked for ID and I showed him a credit card but he barely even gave it a 0.000001 second glance before letting me in.ejwrank wrote:Trocadero once again overbooked and had to turn people away and I think 2 people sat on the stairs in the aisle. C, I am pretty sure you would have walked out of this one so it was probably a blessing you escaped.

Oh yes -- you must take all the credit for getting me tickets and in my name -- thank you a_person! But of course I did once get in on a ticket of yours by claiming that the initials on the ticket were the first two letters of my surname-- which surprisingly they were.a_person wrote:Lol @ ejwrank - good thing those tickets were in your name.
