I saw it when it first came out in 2002 and loved it. It was even more enjoyable because I am a huge fan of Queen. :D

Me too, saw a preview before the official opening.

As I'm sure you know, it's a jukebox musical based on the songs of Queen. The story (by Ben Elton) got panned by the critics - basically because it's rubbish. However I also loved it, but then again I'm a Queen fan as well. Basically if you like Queen's hits you will have a ball which is why it has now been going for almost ten years despite the critics.

Great Queen hits sung on stage with dancing and (sort of) a story linking it together.

poor quality but the whole thing is there -

Ben Elton wrote it, so the story is predictably crap (like his novels), but thankfully the quality of Queen's music wins you over totally. The play actually doesnt do justice to Queen, the poor writing close to spoils some songs and you cant help but feel that with a decent writer the show could have been an all time great, but the actors give it a good welly and the music is that good it saves the day.

I've seen this show twice in the last year . . . once in Edinburgh and once in Glasgow. If you like Queen's music, then the show is great....obviously a bit like Mama Mia in that a story is written to include their songs . .... you can see the song coming!!!
I have to say I thought the show was great and would happily go and see it again!
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston
