Because I used the word tribe?
I do think he has a huge apparatus behind him helping him to get his way, otherwise I don't understand how he can change the principle the Oscars are based on.
I don't care about political correctedness when in reality people in power, who can change the rules don't care either.
For me tribe is just another word, whether is politically correct or not.
I come from one and pulled out of it because I don't care for the clique.
But tell me a bit more, why did you think it an openly racist comment as you said on the pm?
I consider it a truth, that might not be for you but it is for me. So I cannot say it because some don't agree. Then that's is censorship, tirannical censorship.
Please let's talk.
The Ceremony of the Oscars is there to appreciate work, if it is any different then it's all worthless smoke.

I don't think it's necessary to develop this in this very thread...
I took your comment as very non-PC borderline racist and you defended yourself against it. End of the story, no need to argue as we won't come to an agreement without raising our voices ;)

And yet again Sacha Baron Cohen has succeeded in riling people... Isn't that what he does best?

So did my sister and she was never invited to the Oscars, though she would have pushed really hard had she had the chance. I guess you need extra talent. I don't think she would accept she didn't have it, though!

I would love to know why you think we would end up raising our voices?

:offtopic:

Having said that, I can't stand Cohen and I certainly won't see The Dictator. He was alright in Hugo but the types he plays just completely put me off (mind, I've never actually seen his films, just trailers and glimpses on TV)

You actually nailed it. That was the main issue here, so if he HAS histrionic aptness, why doesn't he use that instead.

Actually I have no issue with him showing up as The Dictator at the Oscars. It's not the first time people show up in character and my personal dislike for the type he plays is no reason for him to get denied what others were allowed.

He clearly likes playing these over the top characters and the masses do enjoy them otherwise his films wouldn't be so popular. He can certainly act differently too as proven in Hugo, but the types he plays are his thing and understandably it's what he went for in The Dictator, which wrote himself, opposed to a role in someone elses film (see Hugo).

True, I think if you look back at the Bruno or Borat thread, it's pretty much the same comments.
