Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I don't know if anyone else went to Ultimate party the other night. It will take a while to explain the show and it's far too late at night, but there was a section with a lady called Emms via skype (sorry I am not clued up on musicians and composers) but I believe she's just been given the job to help compose bits of the Hobbit. And we the "audience" tried to give her some ideas.... Well when you watch the Hobbit, think of me or other FMUKers who went to this odd show....haha
Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I enjoyed the Houdini Experience. Hans was a great showman along with his guest acts. Shame about the slip up with one of the Italian Skaters
Paul Daniels and Debbie Mcgee were on the little red carpet and Linford Christie too.
(I took the tip earlier on this thread to ask for the stalls, luckily managed to get a couple of seats near the back but not too far from the stage to spoil the experience)
Thanks for the heads-up on here and my perseverance in checking the SFF code Mon/Tue!!!!!

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
After the false alarm of SFF cancelling everyone's tickets, I had no trouble collecting raineylb's tickets tonight and jeancomp's, so we can all sit together.
We got lovely seats in the Dress Circle with no one in front of us, with great views of the stage and plenty of leg room. So we were happy! Also lovely to meet ansbro81 at last and catch up with mandmc10. Sorry to have missed c-t and funthing. I did come down to the stalls and looked and stood at the back for a while looking around.
This show turned out to be the premiere press night tonight and the red carpet was out! And what a treat and a celebrity feast for me! So thank you so, so much raineylb for your tickets! Warwick Davies was out with his family, it was his little boy's birthday today (I know as we had a chat - more later!), Paul Daniels with his wife and assistant Debbie McGee, Stavros Flatley, Linda Lusardi, Lindford Christie (he was so fast I missed him!) were all there.
I was originally put off by the shows title, as I do not really like Houdini's type of escapology shows, but this show was so much more, more fun, more beautiful, more magical. Thank you to the earlier reviews which helped me change my mind and go and see it! I am so glad I did.
The show was amazing, the illusions were impressive, and with the other brilliantly poetic and beautiful acts, it was Cirque du Soleil with magic. It was fun, upbeat, tongue in cheek, vibrant, great costumes, sexy divas, really entertaining all round. Loved it!
After the show, the dress circle bar was laid out for a private party, so we hanged around and hob nob with the cast! Even felt the muscles of the pole acrobats! Got Hans Klok's autograph and he thanked me for coming to his show. Chatted with Warwick, Linda and Stavros, the Diva of Magic, and the other performers. Had some canapes and drinks. Got some great photos. Great evening!

It just goes to show how much precision you need in all these acts, and how skilful you need to be, and how dangerous it could be with one slip.
To have her head pulled like that from the slip was terrible, she was very lucky she was not hurt more.
It reminded me the incident on Dancing on Ice when Matt Evers got his face slashed. It was awful.filmcat wrote:I enjoyed the Houdini Experience. Hans was a great showman along with his guest acts. Shame about the slip up with one of the Italian Skaters

The Houdini experience was entertaining but didn't people find it a bit repetitive?

So glad everyone got in OK last night afterall and had such a good time, I am a little sceptical about the roller skaters though, amazing as they were, they seem to have the same accident each show!
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I had a lovely time at Houdini, first it was so nice to meet up with pxc and her OH and then to finally meet ansbro81 and her friend. I went based on the reviews on here, it's not really something I'd have bothered to book and p*y for ordinarily.
The illusions were so slickly performed that you have to admire the skill and precision and really the amount of practice they must take. They were interspersed with some magic tricks and some chit chat from Hans so the overall pace of the show was good.
I have to absolutely agree with others that the speciality acts were completely stunning. Hard to choose between them for skills but probably my favourite was the tight rope walker.
Aren't we lucky to be able to go to all these things for free!

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I thought that too about the containers, but I just went with the flow and I used that as an opportunity of trying to work out how he did the illusions. Yes, I was the other half of the audience as he said, who did not come to relax and watch the show, but to try to work it out, which he said "good luck" to and to the other "enjoy the show"! But I was amazed and mesmerised by the guest stars especially the gymnasts on the pole, and the duo with the amazing strong girl, lifting a man with one foot, despite her beautiful charming looks!
