Well, I don't think I've ever seen him in a film - only in trailers or ads for some pirate thing.

Expected not to like this - don't really like the 2 stars, never saw the TV show, but thought it was laugh out loud funny in places. However much I enjoyed it and however much it may have changed my opinion of the leads, it will never make me stoop low enough to see mr Tatum in The Vow....

8/10 for the sheer joy of it.

Ditto, which is why I am worried about watching this one. I love my 80s drama cop shows, but judging by the leads this is some teen comedy flick. However most major outlets have been giving this great reviews which is why I still want to check it out.

It also helps you still gave it a 7 out of 10, despite your love for the original series, you're quite a strict critic normally so gives me hope for this remake :)

If you keep in mind this is NOT 21 Jump Street and you can blank out all the gross jokes... it's not such a bad film!

Ah okay, will do. Why on earth did they use the same name if it's so vastly different?

Because it is a modern update and, as Kevin said, a pisstake of the original.

I didn't read the reviews properly, just some glances to not spoil myself too much, so I missed that ;) I still think a modern update or remake or however it's called should have the same feeling as the original (genre etc), but then I haven't seen it yet.
