Re: StreetDance 2
I feel the need to preface what I am about to say with the fact that I never go to the O2 usually, and would usually be even less inclined to do so on an occasion such as this film. However, I did, because someone I know wanted to go. So I did it to be a good person.
First the Sky queue was ridiculously long, then though we were told that the doors would open at 6 we weren't allowed in. I certainly didn't intend on going outside in the cold to see whatever was out there - Clare you are v brave! - and think it was stupid that they didn't show anything inside in the waiting area. So that was pointless. Anyway, eventually we were allowed in. Once our screen was full up, they started the film - nice and early! Bonus.
The film. annabrett's one word review could choose from a number of words including: cheese, pointless, predictable, wooden... oh, did I mention cheese? I rolled my eyes so many times I lost count. Had there been an ill wind they might well have gotten stuck! The dancing was very cool, as was the beat of the music, but I didn't really care about the movie. It was all so predictable. And at the end when
Vince hands Ash the trophy
... good God, I'm rolling my eyes even as I type. No real point in rating this....
Given that this was a premiere, I thought we'd at least get some popcorn or something. Nada. Hope someone got something out of this. Tom Conti certainly doesn't. Although he was Oscar worthy compared to the rest. Dire though this film was, he is still a great actor, and he made me laugh.
Oh, and the Sky parking thing is such a palaver. No more O2 for me again...

Re: StreetDance 2
i was with a 12 year old he even knew who a few of the performers were. however discussing it beforehand he sad he expected it to be: boy meets girl. they struggle to get together. get together. have a disappointment. get back together to win. BUT he said, we are not going for the story, we go to watch the dancing. I must admit i felt kinda proud of him then. and he, fortunately, loved the dancing! it was, in his critical opinion, better than step up, which had too much time devoted to the story and not enough dancing. ah bless him
i thought it was really rubbish. liked some of the 3d bits but all that frenetic editing just made me dizzy. I felt i didn't get time to appreciate the elaborate routines. also thought the invincibles shoudda won: think they had a better routine.

Re: StreetDance 2
Well overall we had a good night, we arrived at the O2 just after 5pm and joined the queue just before it really started to grow, when we reached the ticket desk we were offered the choice of seeing the film at 6.30pm, of going into the red carpet pen to see performances & celebs arrive, of course kids wanted to do that! We were told we would be in to watch the film by 7pm.
First of all we were put in a pen at the start of the red carpet which was round the corner but there were no gaps for the kids to see and of course no kind soul willing to let them squeeze in, so after a lot of pleading with the security got moved to a better spot. There was someone warming up the crowd and a friend of ours ended up doing a little rap with him which was quite funny, the kids got autographs and photo's with lots of the cast, they were absolutely thrilled to have a little chat with George Sampson and Chris n Wes, plus a few other celebs they recognised. However, they kept us waiting afterwards for ages and it started to get really cold it must have been at least 7.30pm before we went in, then they had put us all in screen 5 which was really small and not big enough for the people allocated tickets, I don't know where everyone else was taken, but a lot of people were taken back out as there was no room.
The film itself was awful, really awful, very lazy story, completely predictable, poor acting, just rubbish and although it was mostly dancing but even that wasn't really that spectacular. Kids enjoyed it for the dancing but even they weren't that impressed.
On the way out Flawless were at the bottom of the escalators and chatted to the kids and posed for photo's which was really nice of them and the kids thought it was brilliant. The kids were also given one of the large poster boards each that had been on the railings so you can imagine what fun we had travelling from one end of the Jubilee line to the other with those!

They're all pretty weird.
Also, I apologise to those kids that might get to go to the London screening I just posted.

Re: StreetDance 2
It was very misleading for Sky to say we were attending the premiere at O2, it was like any other screening, but worst.
My email told me to arrive by 6.50pm but to be seated at 6.45pm!
I emailed Sky to query this but they did not reply. I arrived at 6pm and there was a long queue snaking all around the Sky Gallery, and we waited to exchange our print outs for tickets. While we waited I spoke to a Sky rep and she said there were 5 screenings and she did not know what time the film will start. Once we exchanged our tickets, we were told to go straight to Screen 4. We arrived at the red carpet and then was ushered up the escalator and in.
The screening room filled up and the film started at 6.45pm. We did not see any actors from the film, there was no introduction from anyone, we were in the small Screen 4, the 3D projection did not work at first, we had to alert staff several times about the 3D not working, then after 15 minutes, they decided to do something about it. Then the film started again, and at first it was not working then after a minute they managed to adjust the 3D so it was showing properly. The worst premiere I have ever been to.
Luckily, the film was good and entertaining as I enjoyed the dancing and the music. I knew the story would be pretty lame, but I had come to see a streetdance film, so just looked forward to that. I should have just gone to Islington, instead of traipsing all the way up to the 02. A very disappointing "premiere".
7/10 for the film, 0/10 for the premiere.

Re: StreetDance 2
I was with the group that had to leave screen 5 as it was too packed. At first staff said we'd be in screen 8, then they decided to put us in the superscreen instead :) we saw all the stars of the film going up the escalators to their showing, on our way to the superscreen.raineylb wrote:
