I found it really interesting. Good points are its very well shot, very tense at times and you feel like you are in the middle of the action. I've always been fascinated with war ever since Vietnam but this is a totally different kettle of fish. I wonder if this will appeal to the gaming comunity as at times it was like a first person war game.
The bad parts were the storyline, the cheesy things like the very unrealistic conversations between the two main Seals,
the icecream van
the fact that the baddies were so clearly baddies. Oh and the music was a bit ott. But all in all it was ok for me 8/10

Thanks so much to Beate for taking us all vx :star:

"The men with all of these skills, except acting"

It was interesting, definitely. Although i was disappointed that there was a lack of actual Seal co-ordination and how these missions are played out and how they interact on a mission. Atleast how they get this intel in the first place. They just suddenly appeared at these places after very little digging work. We got maybe 5 minutes of that interesting stuff overall. Also the action scenes were horribily formulaic (Shooting, explosions, "oh no" moment, slow motion scream, slow motion "is this what we have become" montage with sentimental music). For nearly every single scene.

Also the fact that the Seals seemed to be invulnerable and retarded. Like one guy gets shot in the head, and his buddie is just like: "wake up". And it somehow works. And the guy who gets shot 16 times but is still able to fire a gun and reload afterwards. I would've liked the guy who got his eye shot out to have an emotional struggle. Getting to grips of not being able to stand next to his "brothers" with no depth perception and therefore no ability to fire a gun. But he seemed to be forgotten

But yeah, other than that it has some great moments, great action scenes right before the formula kicks in and very nicely shot (except for the night time jungle scene when they first land. That lighting reminded me of AVP2, where the whole movie looked like it was lit with the directors cellphone

6.5/10

I enjoyed this because I like watching things being blown up and men in uniform. Also it was nicely filmed and some of the hardware looked very snazzy. I think it will do wonders for recruitment in America. We had a lovely time in the screening, nice to see/meet the FMUKers and thanks again to Beate and OH.

I am sure it will do very well in Rick Santorum country. For my part I am happy to discover that I can sleep through explosions.

Thanks to everyone for coming along, and for the card!

Film was not important to me, it was the experience.
And let me just say this, I dunno about you, but the audience I saw this film with was awful. Checking their phones, crunching loudly, kicking seats, horrendous. If I knew them personally, I would scald each and every one of them

I liked the film up to the first hour as there seems to be some kind of story and seems to be going somewhere, and it was so well shot, lots of tense moments, continuous gripping action, and I was right in there, felt very, very real, but then it just got a bit repetitive for me, just shooting, shooting, shooting. I thought, I get it, all this acts of valour, bravery, personal sacrifice, that provides the freedom that we enjoy, I really get it! Good propaganda, or recruitment? 6/10

Thanks Beate for a well organised evening and for my choc "medal". Yummy!

I think we knew what was going to happen the moment he handed that letter over to his mate. No surprises there, eh? I know that as your resident American I probably should have stood, applauded and led you all in a rousing singing of The Star Spangled Banner, so I'm sorry I bungled it. Anybody else old enough to remember The Green Berets? Act of Valo(u)r is the new edition.

But as I said before, it's the company that counts.
