How to get cinema vouchers

#1 Post by Beate » Thu Feb 02, 2012 12:16 pm

This question came up recently so here are a few answers:

Nectar points can be used as valid payment for Vue cinema tickets simply by swiping the Nectar card at the cinema till. 500 points are the equivalent of £2.50: http://www.nectar.com/spend/vuecinemas/index.rnectar

Tesco clubcard vouchers can be used to obtain Cineworld vouchers (usually valid 3 months I believe). £4 gives you one adult ticket.

Try to win vouchers: http://www.fmuk.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10454

Complain when something at your screening has gone wrong or it was cancelled – you might get vouchers as an apology.

Please post any other promotions below.

I have a few Cineworld complimentary single passes (normal/3D) BUT on their website it says you can't use them where it says "No Passes" (I guessed there was a catch)

Does anybody know *please* (if you don't see a newspaper or film poster) how you could tell whether a particular film is excluded from using a complimentary ???

I downloaded the Cineworld app but the posters are too small on my Ipod.

I'm not sure there is a way of knowing, without being able to see either a newspaper ad or online listings for the cinema of your choice. With Cineworld, I believe any restriction is usually advertised as "free list suspended", but that shouldn't apply to vouchers anyway. Others may know better but I would expect a voucher to be accepted for any performance unless you were trying to use it in a situation excluded by the small print on the voucher itself, e.g. for a 3D screening if the voucher said not valid for those, or in central London if those cinemas were ruled out. Have you tried the FAQ on Cineworld's site?

I haven't found Cineworld vouchers too limiting; it has been mainly the above conditions which have applied to those I've had, whereas Odeon vouchers seem to be many and various and the list of excluded cinemas can be so long that it would have been quicker for Odeon to state where the voucher COULD be used. If anywhere!
