Really enjoyed this. If you liked the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo then I recommend you see this.

Good to see you, akh43 and Steve. Glad you liked my new purse, I think it suits me!akh43 wrote:Diane65 wrote:Really enjoyed this film kept me interested throughout. Seemed like a deja vu from Cabin in the Woods with the CCTV watching them and then another eerie woodland cabin.
Lovely to see that Yogi was using his new silk Proposal purse in its leather pouch, nice to see winners appreciating their prize
I really enjoyed this, not too predictable and plenty of twists - hope they dont make an american version as they always spoil them.

I was never bored, but I did find credibility stretched to breaking point and beyond. So many things didn't add up or ring true, so I enjoyed it just as a well played chase movie with some decent action/thrilling set pieces.
Unfortunately I think the Hollywood remake will only highlight the plot holes or clumsily try to fix them in the same way Anything for Her became The Next Three Days, and like that film I'm sure the lead won't be anywhere near as well cast as the foreign language version.
In fact a quick google search seemed to throw up Mark Wahlberg's name!

Re: Headhunters
Saw this at Braehead Glasgow last night and was really pleasantly surprised by it. Wasn't sure about the subtitles before it started, especially for my 82 year old father, but there weren't sooo many that you missed half of them which I have experienced at subtitled movies in the past and my dad who had been thinking he wouldn't last long with the subtitles decided quite early on not to leave. (tho there were 2 people who left after about 5 or 10 minutes) Yes it was a bit violent in bits. Yes it was a bit farcical in bits, BUT, there were enough red herrings to keep me guessing. I know it's wrong, but it made me laugh at the bit with the dog/tractor coz it just made me think of the local binmen with there mascots tied to the front of the trucks. The lead actor is indeed like a young, short Christopher Walken and though he was a totally unsympathetic character at the start of the movie, by about half way through I think most of us were rooting for him and by the end I quite liked his character. Would recommend this movie even to those who don't like subtitles. Non stop action, twists and turns a few gruesome bits, a few downright nasty bits... but give it a try. In my humble opinion it is at least a 7/10, maybe even an 8.

It's either to make it more 'flashy' or to put something out there for the American market who fail to appreciate movies that don't feature hollywood 'A' listers or don't have some big name stars in it.
Interesting that the producers of the original have given their 'blessing' to the American version.

I think producers/authors of foreign films will always give their blessing as they will get royalties from the remakes :)Flabber wrote:Hollywood remakes hardly live up their original foreign versions.yogi wrote: Unfortunately I think the Hollywood remake will only highlight the plot holes or clumsily try to fix them in the same way Anything for Her became The Next Three Days, and like that film I'm sure the lead won't be anywhere near as well cast as the foreign language version.

I am all for Foreign film remakes, they can never harm the original regardless if they are good (there are loads of them) or bad (unfortunately, loads of them too), they always have the potential to introduce more people to the original foreign film who otherwise would never see it.
