Re: The Cabin in the Woods
I've seen it twice now and I still love it. Although the suprrise isn't there, you still have loads of stuff to keep you entertained and things you can reference to other films.
Even though I loved Fright Night with a passion, this, was everything that Fright should have been, without the dark 3D - even the 3D bluray is crapola

Re: The Cabin in the Woods
saw this yesterday at sky and was nice and this week there were no problems
although unlike everyone else i didnt think this was a great film, didnt understand it for a while thought it was a bit predictable and storyline felt a bit pointless, possibly since i was expecting a bit more since it was done by Joss Whedon although at times it was fairly funny

Re: The Cabin in the Woods
I didn't get this film and found all rather pointless. A horror film, that didn't scare. A film seeking cult following, but with Hollywood production values. A surprised cameo, which was miscast. A Director, who claimed he was avoiding stereotypes, but the film was full of them. And, the cast from Scooby Doo, but without Scooby Doo.

Saw this at a very full Southampton Odeon. The film started off really well we had sound but no picture so they had to stop and replace the bulb in the projector. Not too sure why they gave us all 3D to wear but found it quite amusing that some people kept them on all through the film.As for the film i enjoyed it not sure what i would class the film as it had funny bits, little horror but plenty of gore.

That's hilarious! Are you saying they gave out 3D glasses for a 2D film and people never even noticed? That says it all for the 3D concept! Emperor's New Clothes springs to mind!big_bad_wolf wrote:Saw this at a very full Southampton Odeon. Re: The Cabin in the Woods
Saw this last night. All I'll say is - Mind. Blown.
The tagline definitely wasn't lying!
Going to see it again this weekend! Got to see what else could have 'emerged'!
Loved the dark humour too!
The Unicorn and the Merman! Ha!
The only problem I had with everything was:
Why on earth in a place like that, would you have a PURGE button????

Re: The Cabin in the Woods
Went to see this last night at Glasgow Showcase cinema, we really enjoyed it all round great fun the film diddn't take itself to seriously it was a little gory but the humor balances that out a bit, loved the whole idea of it a little different from your typical horror movie and well worth a watch imo,

Do you need Heat magazine with your SFF tickets at Covent Garden?

Re: The Cabin in the Woods
Found this one interesting - I am glad I went to see it although I am so NOT a horror fan! I did shut my eyes for much of the actual killing and gore -- though by the end it was so OTT it was hardly worth hiding from! I don't think there were many fantasy horror creatures neglected to be included in this one. I wonder what the count of different creatures 'pa*d tribute' to was?
I had avoided the trailer and reading reviews -- and I am glad I did -- I think my enjoyment would have been affected by knowing too much.
In our screening the two biggest laughs were for
the coffee cup bong right at the beginning
and the
'am I on speaker phone' section
- which was funny.
I think people were more grossed out by
the girl making out with the stuffed wolf head
-- than any of the killing and gory bits.
Like others have said I was thinking
The Truman Show
but also something like
Westworld
-- no doubt that reference makes me seem even older than I am!
I am in the camp of those who found the ending weak and wishing it had gone another way.
Not my kind of thing generally - but funny in places - and intesting to work out how just many different films and characters were being referenced. 6/10
Did I need to include the spoliers? - as everyone interested must have actually been to one of the previews with quite so many codes around -- better safe than sorry
