Re: Mirror Mirror
I didn't have very high expectations and could have just watched Julia Roberts, Nathan Lane and the fantastic costumes. I agree Snow White wasn't very good. But there was also the beginning story recap and the marionettes to enjoy.

Re: Mirror Mirror
That's what I find funny about both snow white films this year, that the queens in them are really beautiful women. The only thing the only thing the snow whites have is youth on their side.

I really didn't enjoy this very much and I was looking forward to it. I knew it was going to be cheesy, but then again it wasn't cheese done well.
I love julia robers but seriously, what was she thinking? the script was awful and what was with that weird ting in the water? so confusing (and stupid). if i were her i would be gutted that the evil step mother queen thing didn't get to say, mirror mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all. - I noted that they tried to make a little joke out of it, but i didn't find it funny.
as for the bollywood song at the end what a pile of crap... or as my mother puts it... that really good bit at the end. (no accounting for taste sometime sorry mum!)

Re: Mirror Mirror
this was basically a revisionist kids telling of the story. Its not great but its competent for a lazy Easter long weekend. Whilst its certainly no Alice In Wonderlands effects fest, theres a bit more on offer than the various tv movies of the Snow White myth. I was dreading momma Roberts and young Lily being crap in this movie, but they were actually really spot on. Thank goodness it wasnt Emma Roberts and Lily Cole, then, pheww.
mm Bollywood dance, well unnecessary, I guess the Director was just putting his mark on the movie. At least there wasnt any Bollywood in the movie itself! And didnt a confused Ned Stark look like he'd lost some serious weight in the movie?
But Tale of Terror is still the benchmark for Snow White movies at least for now, and the Disney version is really always going to be the definitive kids version.

Re: Mirror Mirror
Finally got to see this today at a Saturday morning family screening. It was totally packed out, and people were being turned away, but then the seats were being sold at a bargain £2.60!
Enjoyed the film although it seemed at little long at times. I thought that Julia Roberts as the Wicked Queen, and the 7 Dwarves had the best lines/roles of the film. The costumes were amazing too. Glad I got to see it. A nice family film.

Re: Mirror Mirror
I am a big fan of the Snow White story but just couldn't find the time to see this up until now. Thankfully I was able to catch it at one of its final showings in the cinema today which I am really glad about.
The Fall is one of my all-time favourite films (Lee Pace! <3) and while Mirror Mirror didn't quite live up to my expectations it still has Tarsem Singh's signature all over it with the beautiful designs and costumes.
I was very happy with the Snow White retelling too. The core of the story remained intact but with quite a few changes along the line (while remaining very family friendly). Lily Collins if gorgeous (even though she has enourmous eyebrows that dominate her face) but Armie Hammer and the lack of clothes he wears were definitely the highlight for me. Also some of the things he does under the influence of a spell, looooooool
7.5/10
Also, thank god I had a voucher, £13.25 they wanted to charge me for this 2D film!! I haven't pa*d for cinema in ages so had no idea it was this expensive. Geesh.
