The Host gets a director.

The author of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer, is working on a screen adaptation of her sci-fi novel The Host.
The book, very much like Meyer's Twilight series, involves a love triangle. Set in a world where alien body snatchers rule Earth, an alien is fused with a dying woman in a bid to hunt the last remaining man on the planet - only to find the woman falling in love with him.
Gattaca's Andrew Niccol will write and direct the film.
Producer Nick Wechsler said, "We wanted Stephenie to be involved in the adaptation and have her endorse and be part of the creative decisions. Twilight has proved she knows more about what works than most."

Has anyone read this novel? Any thoughts about it? Does it match the Twilight series for excitement?

Yes, soooo long! I think they have delayed it due to the huge Twilight success. Now I am trying desperately not to finish the book too quickly as I know once I finish, the wait for the movie will seem even longer! :s

Tom Cruise Top Gun sequel in the pipeline

A sequel to Tom Cruise's hit 80's action film Top Gun is officially in development, it has been revealed. Rumours of a follow-up to the 1986 flick first surfaced last year, with Cruise saying that a sequel would happen if the script was good enough. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount executive Adam Goodman confirmed that the project is officially in pre-production. Talking about a possible fifth instalment of the Mission: Impossible series, Goodman remarked: "We'll likely make a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise first. Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct... All parties are moving ahead." Meanwhile it is thought that The Town writer Peter Craig will write the script. The original movie starred Cruise as Maverick, a cocky fighter pilot opposite Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan and Kelly McGillis.
