I just started the second book today. And finished. Not quite sure if it was better than the first, it may just be a tricky middle installment, but I certainly thought it was a lot darker, with the whole thing about the Capitol and more character development... I cannot wait to start the third book. The annoying thing is I'll have to wait so long for the next film!

I found that one to be my favourite, as I thought [spoiler]without the games, the story lost its focus a bit[/spoiler] but would be interested in what you think at the end!

I b*ght all three books the other day. Looks like I'll need to find a free 25 mins to read them! Not exactly LOTR in word count! Mind you I also spotted the sequel to War Horse - called Farm Boy which is little more than a pamphlet. I reckon you could probably read that from cover to cover next time you are waiting at a set of traffic lights! Ha.

I really hope he won't take their advice and [spoiler]play up the love triangle. I thought that was the weakest part of the book and glad Hunger Games kept it to a minimum (though Liam Hemsworth's accent is pretty funny[/spoiler]

Wouldn't it be great if rather than hold the planned Olympic Games in London this year they held a kind of London Hunger Games instead.

The same rules would apply as in the film. However, instead of picking teenagers to be the "Tributes", they would now all be drawn from senior figures in the banks, financial institutions and political parties. Just a thought!!

This was my first of 3 free films today. It was an engaging film and was a little different from the mainstream which is always a good thing, I liked it a lot especially the fine performances from Stanley Tucci, Jennifer Lawrence and Donald Sutherland. Seneca Crane's beard made me smile.

I thought the initial hand held shaky camera work did nothing to enhance the credibility of the film, it was just annoying and unnecessary. I Know the reasons why it was shot this way, but it did seem very extreme and frankly quite clichéd. I actually thought I was going to have to leave the screening because it made the pounding headache that I was already sporting when I went in even worse. Fortunately it settled down after a bit and by the time the shaky camerawork in the fight scenes reappeared (which I actually thought was quite good) I was feeling OK. Quite a long film but it maintained my interest and attention throughout.

The "Control Room" scenes in it reminded me of the Prisoner TV Show but brought up to date - I was half expecting No. 2 to appear.

A big thanks to Ms Thrifty for the ticket which incidentally enabled me to see both this film and "Battleship" because of a stroke of "Cinedipity" that befell me today.

A solid 8 out of 10 from me for this one.
