A so out of the way location for a premiere, Curzon Chelsea, there was not even room for the fans to stand, or to have a red carpet! But they did, a tiny one. And why was the screening so late on a school night, when the vast majority of the audience were teens. The film was meant to start at 8pm, but by 8.35, I tweeted to Zac, why the delay? Then miraculously after that tweet, the writer and the stars came on to introduce the film for all the waiting fans. The first words funthing exclaims is "He is so short!" So funny, he is 5'10 for the record.

This was not bad, but it was not good either!

A really slow love story, where all the teenagers in the audience giggled when they kissed!

Both Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling looked great, and good actors, but I did not feel they had that connection or chemistry together. Zac just looked so young. The scenery was beautiful, though, all so romantic, you know, the setting sun, the light in the morning etc.

Thought it ended too conveniently, and everyone is all, oh so nice, even the "bad" person.

Thanks again to funthing for taking me, and Beate for winning tix in the first place! I had a lovely evening despite the rain, and an out of the way premiere! And the seating was comfortable, all good views, a nice cinema, and we had minstrels and water on our seats.

An inoffensive film that is soppy but not overy corny. It is very mediocre. The story is OK. The acting is average (and rather limited from Efron, IMO). The real problems are the insipid romance, there isn't much of a spark between the two leads. The other flaw is the poor direction. Some of the scenic shots look nice but there is one shot where we see Beth's dripping skirt. What on earth is the point?

Instantly forgettable and nowhere near the standard of The Notebook, which in itself is not a masterpiece, but at least establishes an emotional connection between the audience and the characters.

4.5/10.

Word of advice: never go to a Zac Efron screening with an audience made up of teenage girls. All the sighing, giggling and cheering is enough to drive you mad!

Some of the scenic shots look nice but there is one shot where we see Beth's dripping skirt. What on earth is the point?

There was a lot of laughter from the audience at this point, whether it was from the snogging or what I was thinking, that she was peeing herself, it really looked liked that!
