I did really well with weightwatchers a while ago. Lost a stone and a half then seemed to just hit a wall so started exercising 4 x per week for an hour each time and that seemed to kick start the weight loss again and got me down to a 10/12 which is what I hover at now. Kept the exercise up and feel much better for it too.

But remember :nono: ... Frazles and Mars Bars can only help you to lose weight as part of a calorie controlled diet!!
Can I join in too Preston, hehe. I am super impressed with your journey mate o/ o/ o/ But not just your journey but the inspiration you're giving to everyone else. I've been away from the forum for a while but I am overwhelmed with how much activity is going on around here! Awesome. You got everyone on such a heathy track, you're all going to be swinging on trees in no time! I need to read through these posts properly, I've just been skimming. You reminding me of myself when I started my fat loss journey. Searching for knowledge and more importantly you seem to be really enjoying it.

One thing I will like you all to keep remembering. None of you are trying to lose weight. You are trying to lose the Body Fat. Healthy balance meals with plenty of vegetables of various colours is the way to go...dont need special diets but dont EVER skip meals. I say that because Preston, I notice you are skipping Supper. DOnt. That doesnt help you lose the body fat. Never starve yourself as the body will go into starvation mode because the brain thinks there is a shortage of food, as a result the fat storage is maintained instead of being burned off, ie your fat burning metobalism lowers.

The best fat burning trick I have learnt is to split your meals into 5 a day. Consider that as a next step. This has the magical effect of increasing your fat burning metabolism rate...it work wonders.

Well I guess I should update on my own fitness track. I have a marathon to run in 5 weeks in Edinburgh....my training is sadly less than satisfactory for it and I am working day and evening now. But there is always a way around every obstacle. I'll find a way.

Well done everyone, keep this up o/ o/

"TheyCallMeMrGlass" Can I join in too Preston, hehe.
Woohoo - You are back Mr Glass o/ - You are the very reason that I'm on this thread at all. I remember reading your story of the jacket that was too small for you, and the wake up call it gave you. I found it really inspirational.

I really have been a long time admirer of this thread of yours, but I only lurked in the background. I've never joined in directly before, but I want you to know that I was always greatly impressed with your knowledge and the inspiration and advice you used to selflessly offer to others. I'm hoping that I can tap into that now.

Thanks for all the kind comments you made above. I really am fired up with this and determined to get myself into healthier shape both from a weight (or should that be body fat content) perspective but I also want to increase my general fitness levels too.

The people on here are fantastic - we are all trying to spur each other on and make it fun while we are about it.

Thanks for the very sound advice you've given regarding eating a variety of healthy balanced food and avoiding skipping meals - both duly taken note of - I'll put these into practice right away. o/

Also, thanks for explaining about the benefit of splitting food comsumption over 5 meals per day to maximise the bodys fat burning metabolism rate. Also duly noted.

The very best of luck with finding the time for your preparation training for the Edinburgh marathon Mr G. I've every confidence that you will fit it in, and return a good time! o/

Got weighed this morning and was surprised to find that I had lost 10lbs over the week. 8O I'm not sure that this is good or not given Mr G's comments about the difference between losing weight and burning fat. But I was darned impressed. To my simple mind it's got to be better than putting 10lb on.

The severity of my headache has reduced considerably today and I felt much fitter during today's walk. So I'm one happy bunny and looking forward to next weeks challenges. Going to restart (gently at first) my cardio exercises again and move to Mr Gs 5 meals per day plan. Oh yes "Bring it on, Baby"!! :D

Welcome back MrG and you will get your training back on track, I know its hard trying to fit it in with working as I know that you put in so much to everything you do. That's why we all love you!

WOW Preston1990 what an impressive weight loss you will be "Hunk of the Month" at this rate (anyone old enough to remember it was in the middle of Blue Jeans magazine - my sister used to get it).

I'm with you Valda, I've got my Paypal account at the ready to sponsor our Mr Motivator.

I think I might go for a brisk walk shortly as I've got a free evening.

Thanks for those kind words of encouragement Diane o/, it means a lot!

But if you'd ever seen me, and considering the excess weight I still have left, I'd probably do better in a "HULK  of the month" competition right now. ;)

Did you manage to get out for your walk yesterday? Great to see that you are keeping up the exercise momentum........... :shifty: :shifty: I bet your thighs are looking great these days! :shifty: :shifty: ;)

Mr Glass, I was wondering if it was feasible for you to fit some training in by running to and/or from work or in your lunchtime? Are you running to raise funds for a charity organisation?

Today's meals:

1. Apple, small orange, Pear. Pot of Earl Grey, Lemon slices.

2. Two or three of sticks of cellery, couple of carrot batons.

3. 2 chicken kofta kebabs on loads of salad leaves, spring onions, red onion.

4. Lean beef burger a la George Foreman with Diane's Onion marmalade (I'll let you know how I get on!), and rocket and green bean salad .

5. Endamame and adzuki beans drizzled with small amount of soy and ginger based dressing.

Day one of my revisited cardio exercises.

Wow! 10lbs lost is great, well done Preston1990! Today's food sounds delish. This might just be me, but I find I need something a little heavier for breakfast else I get hungry sooner. So maybe a banana if you want to stick to fruit. Otherwise eggs are always a good choice. I think you can boil a batch and keep them in the fridge if you like boiled eggs...

Keep up the good work, peeps!

Preston1990, that is a phenomenal achievement! At this rate you will soon be half the man you were, in the nicest possible way. Perhaps you should take up motivational speaking or coaching?
