Re: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
Just been to see this and thought it was great! The animation in parts looked as if it were real! Fantastic and a great adventure - held the interest of my fidgity 5 year old!
Re: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
I actually saw this for a second time at the O2 on Sunday. And yes I have joined the list of people complaining about all the ads.
Firstly that Sky super screen is very impressive, but did my neck no favours sitting right at the front.
Film is er... just ok, some really nice touches Tintin's portrait, the birds flying around the dazed head etc, but it also dragged at times despite the short running time.
The 3D is also pretty redundant, I actually took my glasses off about 30 minutes into the 2nd viewing and put up with the slight blurriness to enjoy the brighter more vibrant picture.

Re: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
Finally saw this today and was nicely surprised!
When I first saw the trailer I thought the motion capture was painful to watch; it actually took me few minutes today to adjust and appreciate it and then I was completely blown away! The animation is gorgeous and the 3D very sharp!
I like that they kept the characters exactly as Herge made them; I also like the few references to few other episodes... the gravity zero scene (originally from Tintin, destination Moon) was awesome!
What I did not like: it was waaaaaay too long, I think the score could have been better (but maybe they did not get the rights from the original serie?) and I thought I would have to kill the lightning team for their overuse of lense flares!!!
Funnily enough, I stayed for the credits and realise Spielberg himself was the Lightning consultant
7/10 for me
Edit: I also had 30 f*cking minutes of ads and trailers before the movie started! No wonder I was getting bored and sleepy by the end of the movie

Re: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
A perfectly enjoyable family film with some of the best animation i've seen which didn't rely on needing prior knowledge of the original. Some great scenes and near perfect casting. Recommended.

Re: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
I just discovered this is not being released in the States until 21st December! That's unheard of, and a real turn of the tables. Its usually the other way round with Hollywood productions. The reasoning makes sense though because apparently Tintin is more popular in Europe than the States and the executives wants to get the reactions from Europeans before deciding how to market the film in the states where tintin has a very low profile. So for once we can feel a little chuffed. Of course our home grown movies dont even make it to the states and when they do, its nearly a year or 2 later.
Anyway, will be seeing this again on Friday in 2D.

Re: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
Great scenes n animation. I really loved the dog!!! Lovely story.........
I didn't know much about Tintin other than seeing merchandise in Belgium.
(I remember bits of the actual cinema trailer which gave the game away a bit, i.e. modes of transport)
