Yes, there is some CGI in this, but it is largely stop-motion and the budget reflects that. The point remains that their non-CGI based films cost a lot more to make but don't go on to earn more than the stop-motion ones do.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

Well if you compare this film to Arthur Christmas, the budget for this film is about half and Arthur was a flop by any CGI standards, but this film will not fare any better in the box office, .especially in the States

Just got around to seeing this, unfortunately no previews in Manchester so had to hand over hard some earned doubloons!! Arrrr!!

I could resist seeing it, because it's Aardman, but as critics and some peoples response on here have been slightly reserved my expectations were slightly lowered.

Well I absolutely loved it, I laughed and smiled all the way through. The pace and sheer volume of gags is relentless, but I agree with some that it could have been a touch longer to let the characters breathe a little. But as pure, smart entertainment is was top notch.

I also think the title is perfect, odd, daft and it sets you up perfectly for the surreal, silly, historically inaccurate world you are about to enter.

Is it as good as Wallace and Gromit or Pixar's best, hmmm that's a matter of opinion, is it better than 99% of the other animation out there the Happy Feet's, Madagascar's etc, Aye, aye, Captain!! By an absolute nautical mile. :D

Also saw a trailer for Top Cat movie... so excited for that :)

Saw this at the Dominion, Edinburgh this afternoon with a groupon deal.

Love it. It was colourful, fun and entertaining and had a great soundtrack.

Not sure the kiddies got it all but they were quiet and well behaved throughout, even the tiny ones.

Loved watching this sat on the big sofa with my feet up on the pouff - I love Gold Class!

Great film , go see it!

They loved Chicken Run, but I think maybe Aardman is abit too retro for them.
