Re: Top Cat: The Movie
Lovely to see lots of fmukers! Took Isabel as I thought there would be lots of interesting things for her in the foyer but sadly she wasn't keen.
I only managed 10 mins before I had to leave but was not impressed.

Re: Top Cat: The Movie
Thought the film was at least true to the show, if not hugely successful, and I swear the bad guy in prison moment had a rapey vibe to it. Maybe I'm reading far too much into it, but there's an overly-affectionate dog who just seems like a leg-humper. Also, Vertigo aren't known for their kid-friendly films about joy and happiness, so they might have seen that joke and b*ght the UK rights on that basis alone.
Anyway, it had moments that worked, a lot that didn't, and issues with the 2D characters on 3D sets where they seemed to be floating, not sitting or standing.

It was lovely to meet you, your OH, & Isabel today she's just adorable, it was a shame the 'Fun in the Foyer's seemed to be aimed at older kids today with the caricature artists, she's probably a bit young for the face painting too but I hope you managed to get a photo. Was great to see some other familiar FMUK faces and finally meet Valda & jeancomp! Thank you very much once again to prettyxcool & Celine for the extra tickets, sorry I had to rush off so quickly but had to get back as have work shortly.tilly wrote:Lovely to see lots of fmukers! As for the film, despite being a fan of the cartoon as a child, I didn't enjoy the movie, I was bored and could of quite easily nodded off, however my son, daughter and her friend all loved it, thought it was funny and were repeating lines from it and giggling all the way home on the train. They are very keen to go and see it again and know I have Sky tickets.......
The children also came out with an arm full of goodies, including, masks, song sheets, activity sheets, balloons, caricature (of themselves) key rings, badges & magnets, balloon models of T.C. and were given a cartoon of juice and a packet of Millions on the way into the film.

Re: Top Cat: The Movie
I would nominate this film as Absolutely the Most Pointless Use of 3D (in a world filled with many other contenders). Flat conventional cartoon characters in a kinda 3D environment. Also approximately 70 mins too long. There were a few really quite good jokes but mostly not very funny. And it was so LOUD! (Screen 5).
But I had a very nice outing, seeing many lovely FMUKers and meeting Rainey and Isabel for the first time.

That's true the 3D was completely pointless and as Ethanrunt mentions above it didn't work properly in some places, like in the vault with the money looked like the characters were floating.

Glad your children enjoyed themselves Rainey! Shame she was too young though assumed as u rating, could have been better but shouldn't complain as free.
Shame the film was a tad boring for me and that was after 10 minutes

Re: Top Cat: The Movie
It was great to meet a couple more FMUKers so hello Zoebanfield, Rainey and hello again Tilly and the gorgeous Isabel, what a little sweetie
thanks to pcx for the ticket and hello to everyone else.
I am in the minority as I thought it was ok, and exactly the same as the cartoon. In this day and age it seems a bit simplistic but I quite like that sort of animation - shame about the 3D.

Re: Top Cat: The Movie
Very nice to see so many FMUK-ers; funthing29, celini, jeancomp, tilly, valda, beate, ethanrunt, prettyxcool (and I am sure I am forgetting a few, my apologies!).
As for the film: I loved how the style of drawing didn't seem to have been updated from the original animation, it's nice to not see an overly computer animated cartoon for once. The story was simplistic and the gags maybe outdated (although the whole technology bit and cellphones etc was of course new - though it was funny in that respect how Officer Dibble still reached for the street phone first like in the original series) but it entertained me and even made me laugh a few times.
The 3D was shit though and should not have been used. Especially in the safe it looked awful (character floating behind money) and whenever something was standing on a table it didn't look to be touching the table either.
Still, 7/10 from me.
Highly disappointed though by the lack of cakes at the fun in the foyer. But I got a green screen pic, so suppose I can't complain.
