Walking from home (or wherever you are) is a great idea, Preston & co, as obviously that way you waste no time, it's better for the environment, and so on.

Years ago I tried walking with various groups but they all horrified me by driving literally miles (sometimes even a 50-mile round trip) to walk a piddling distance in comparison. And all that wasted time which could have been spent on walking!

Now I always set off on foot, which means repeating the boring stuff near home but I can go as far as I like and use public transport to return, so that still gives me plenty of choice. And as others have noted, even if you don't range far, there are all sorts of ways to vary your walk, such as changing the route, trying to speed up, etc. That's why I find my poles useful for short walks: they add variety and increase the amount of energy used even over a short distance. Plus they help me up those hills!

You've inspired me to get back on the hills as I haven't been for ages as where I live is flat and as I always have my poles in the boot so need to get my act together and get back up the hills which I love.

Menu of the day:
Greek yoghurt with honey and 25gm granola and black coffee (250 calories)
6 Jacobs savour roast onion and sesame with pate (very small portion as OH has eaten most of it :noo: ) cucumber, weight watchers fromage frais, 50gm portion of grapes, raspberries and strawberries (250 calories)
Toby Carvery, water and diet coke (I imagine about 1,000 calories 8O but I will try and limit my size) Hence today is going to be my treat day.
I now always have at least 2 litres of water a day.
Brisk 3 mile walk after work before the carvery so hopefully will boost my metabolic rate :cross:

Have a fun day everyone else and hopefully we will be hearing from someone who is going to be doing the Lizzie video as part of their fitness regime ;)

Just got up and jumped on the scales - One happy bunny!!! 2lbs lost since last Friday :D so happy at that and it shows I am doing something right even though I had a "bad day" on Wednesday.

Having greek yoghurt and granola for breakfast, homemade lentil soup for lunch and a banana, small baked potato and gammon steak with salad tonight. Probably munch a stick of celery and a few chopped walnuts tonight while Corrie and Eastenders is on. A couple of cups of tea during the day and of course plenty of water!

Hope everyone has a good weekend - weather terrible here absolutely pouring rain.

I jumped on the scales this morning to find 9st 1.8 staring back at me, extremely happy since I was 9st 6 after America o/
