Very well done to biggins and Diane65, too! (Wonder if this thread is more effective than a club as well as cheaper?)

Oh wow Diane, Congratulations!! That's such fantastic news - I'm so pleased for you! o/

Your sensible eating, brisk walks and exercise DVD workouts are really p*ying off. I'm very impressed with how much you seem to fit in to your busy schedule, especially considering that you hold down a full time job too.

As you say, you are approaching it all sensibly and not forgoing your weekly treat days too ;) - so that is a great achievement. You should be really proud of yourself - we all certainly are. You've made a real dent in your target weightloss so far and I can see that you are determined to stick with it.

Woohoo!, Another great result!! Well done Biggins! o/ It just shows what a beneficial effect sensible eating when combined with some exercise can have. I think it's experiences like you've described, where you notice some beneficial effects occurring that really get you motivated to stick with it. It's great to hear that you're finding time to go swimming and do some walks around the shops.

Well done everyone. Keep at it - It'll take some time and effort, but together I'm sure we'll get there and achieve our goals. o/

I'm off to study that walking link now, that Diane kindly shared the other day, to see if I can use it to calculate the exact distance that I've walked today. I think that I may have done about 7 miles or so.

Today's Meals:

Copious amounts of water (The more you drink the more you shrink!) Especially good in this hot weather.
Loads of Fresh Black Coffee.

1. Two Weetabix with a handful of Blueberries and skimmed milk.

2. Half a bag of caeser salad with croutons (but no dressing or parmesan flakes) combined with a Coop ready prepared layered chicken and bacon salad - approx 500 calories. Eaten at a picnic table overlooking a lake in the countryside in full sunshine wearing some rather fetching shorts and a floppy hat.

3. Pear, satsuma, kiwi fruit.

4. Big Fresh Tuna Steak with a dollop of freshly prepared (Diane's recipe) onion marmalade on a bed of green salad, green beans and finely diced jalapeno and birds eye chillies (not too much).

5. Two Toast thins (made from one slice of bread) with salmon Pâté. Earl Grey Tea with slice of lemon.

Oops, I mean people that run the classes, rather than attendees!

Yup, they're the ones I meant - they could argue that we are discouraging their trade!

Ah well... they should be thinking that it's good that people are getting on with losing weight! I'm so impressed with how people are progressing with strangers that they don't even meet as encouragement!

Yes, can't speak from experience but there's probably something to be said for not being visible and especially for not having to undergo public weigh-ins.

A class is only once a week but here we can chat and encourage each other every day. Plus take ideas from others menus and execise plans.

Classes are fine and I did go to Rosemary Conley's classes for a few months many, many years ago but of course the weight went back on and I stopped going.

Here there is no public weigh -in and we could say "I lost 8lbs this week" and you would be none the wiser as we have never met but that would be a lie and would achieve nothing. Better slow and steady!! o/
