Re: Dark Shadows
I think we have the luxury of not knowing the tv series that inspired it. A lot of my friends in the US hated it.

You can't miss the trailer as it was on the telly. It looked good and people around me are talking about it.
I am highly sceptical of film trailers on tv as either they show the best bits or jazz up a dull film.

Re: Dark Shadows
I found this film EXCELLENT. Yes it was quirky, but found it imaginative and visually appealing. Depp was excellent and he had a great chemistry with Eva Green. Michelle Pfieffer was a little bit peripheral in her role.. Definitely not as bad as the reviews have suggested 8/10 (use of the soundtrack is excellent is great - and not what you would expect in such a film !)

Re: Dark Shadows
Saw this yesterday, definitely loved the gothic theme which is so blatently Tim Burton, not too sure if they did the series justice though, was very slow going in the beginning but when things picked up it got a little more interesting, would have been nice to have more depth to the characters though besides Barnabus I felt like the rest of the Collins family were complete strangers.

I really enjoyed this! I always will be slightly biased toward any johnny Depp/Helena Bonham-Carter/Tim Burton collaborations. But, saying that, I was also slightly disappointed with the movie - I think my expectations may have been so high.
The worst part being that most of the comedy had been captured in the trailer and lost their effect in the actual movie.
However, I will be watching again with my expectations in check!

Re: Dark Shadows
Like Amie, I am a fan of Johnny Depp's films. The trailers on tele and cinema looked pretty good, and I was looking forward to it. While it isn't bad, felt the overall plot somewhat predictable and flat. I thought JD's performance was pretty good, there wasn't enough storyline to bring to live the other characters - particularly HBC and MP, whom I was quite eager to see. Wasn't blown away, felt it didn't lived up to the expectation which I, and I suspect many have, to the big named production and trailer / marketing hype. 6/10... just about.
