Quick update. I am all set this morning for my big run. So much to write about when I get back home tonight. Edinburgh is an awesome city, people ultra friendly, met a couple of lovely fmukers. Ran 5km down the coastline yesterday in Cramond, Havingascreen invited me and my running pals to an awesome off the beaten track eclectic cultural show on friday night, that was brilliant. I did some great attractions such as Dynamic Earth and Camera Obscura, walk everywhere (not actually wise prep for marathon though but couldnt help it!). But now focus is on achievement and its gonna be HOT! Man, is it hot and there I was joking with my running pals on Thursday, "see you at the North Pole". How bloody naive am I. Talk aboyut narrowed minded perceptions  Was also awesome to meet lovely MM for coffee.

Thanks everyone for all your best wishes, I see some donations too, sorry didnt get chance to reply back but I will do later!

I'm carrying all your vibes which will carry me to the finish line.

And in the meantime keep up the phenomenal progress you are all making with your health and fitness goals, quick scan of the thread is still wowing me with what you guys are up to. Pictures of your dinners too are pretty funky o/ o/ ...anyway gotta go now, I'll make a better write up than this tonight!
My film reviews here . ......My FMUK 2014 ratings.......My FMUK 2011 ratings.......My FMUK 2013 ratings . ......My FMUK 2012 ratings .

Do you have a VR headset? If so, maybe we can play a physical sports game or even be sports/fitness partners, hit me up if you keen.

Here’s an extract from a great story that never fails to inspire me. And what’s more it was written by our very own They Call Me Mr Glass way back in the depths of 2011.

The following are his words:

“For those of you who are not quite familiar with my whirlwind life changing fitness journey, I shall recap in as few words as possible, so as not to bore you, it will take only take you 4 hours to read...

While many stories tend to start with, "when I was little...", my one starts more like Benjamin Button...

Once upon a time, 14 months ago, when I was bloody huge and very much older than I am now, I was insanely oblivious to my outward appearance. But one day I thought I try on a new cool leather jacket I spotted in a dept store. As I tried on the Large size, my arms started to go very numb as I then realised the blood flow was being suppressed. I tried on the XL size. While the arms just about squeezed through, the buttons couldn’t reach within 2 inches of the button holes. Completely demoralised, I picked up the XXL jacket and put it on. Only one button at chest height just about reach the button hole. I looked at myself in the mirror and for the first time, whatever delusion spell that was put upon me all these years, that made me see myself as good looking, fit and athletic, was completely shattered. Staring back at me in the mirror was Santa Claus. The End.

Ok, not the end. What followed was a whirlwind journey of discovery, determination and knowledge in the world of health and fitness. 2 words that really never entered my everyday vocabulary before then. So by adapting a better healthier lifestyle, I grew younger (yes time travel does exist), stronger, slimmer, more confident, and even a little cleverer as eating the right balance of nutrition and exercising does ALL of that for you. In about 8 months I lost 6 stones from 19 stones to a healthy 13. I gained about 10-15% in muscle and went from 41% down to 15% in body fat.

Along the way, I took up running and trained very hard, running 2 important events, the first was a 10km British London Run which I completed in just under 1 hour. Then the Great North Run (Half Marathon) raising £325 for Asthma UK and completing in 1hr55min, finishing in the top 20% of runners.

And what’s more I am becoming a Personal Trainer. A most bizarre but exhilarating career change for me. No game plan yet though. But all I care right now, is to share the knowledge I have with everyone around me, so all of you can lead a healthier lifestyle too.

I’ve taken it upon myself to reproduce his words above because Mr Glass is running today in the Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds for a charity called Get Kids Going, but through a mixture of natural modesty and feelings of reluctance to ask people here for support he failed to give out the details of his charity sponsorship link until very recently. Even then he had to be severely nagged and bullied to do this.

And…He doesn’t know that I’m doing this – so he’ll probably kill me if he finds out, but I didn’t want any of his friends on FMUK to miss the opportunity to support him and his chosen charity through lack of knowledge of what he is doing today.

Here is his sponsorship link. Even now it's not too late!! http://www.justgiving.com/RunEvenFasterTejRun

Please show your love and support for our unselfish fellow FMUKer if you can. Every donation no matter how small will help the disadvantaged children he is running for. o/

Remember he is running today, so that we don’t have to! ;)

We are all behind him!! o/ If you read his comments on the Weight watchers you will see he is finding it rather hot here in Edinburgh which will make it harder for him running today. (He thought we lived in the north pole ) Glad it is not me that will have to run all that way today as it is going to be as hot as yesterday.

Hopefully lots of us will sponsor him so will make it all worthwhile. :cross:

Yikes that's scary luckily I go to the Crown ones.

Just done my DVD before it gets too hot.

Menu of the day:
Pretty much the same as yesterday as I got carried away b*ying mexican chicken and it needs to be eaten up today
Strawberry and banana smoothie (250 calories) I just love these at weekends
Mexican chicken salad sandwich on wholemeal bread followed by melon (400 calories)
Chicken kebabs with peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions with sweet chilli sauce on a pitta bread (300 calories)
strawberries, jelly and a small scoop of ice cream (150 calories)

I will do a 4 mile walk later when it cools down.

What's everyone else doing today? Drink loads of water in the sunshine :D

Delighted to report that the fabulous MrG has completed his marathon and is elated. :cheer: :cheer: He wants to thank everyone so much for all your support and encouragement and will be around later to post all the details, he has told me a few bits about his run but I feel that its his story to tell not mine.

His battery in his phone has died hence the runkeeper stopped - I was worried that he had been kidnapped on route :noo: He has asked me to post this as he sent me a text from his friend's phone - its not me being bossy trying to run his life ;)

I for one am so happy and amazed at his achievement today. So well done from me o/
