Ms Thrifty not sure about you but I haven't got a long floaty dress to sit on the handlebars if you've got one you are the lucky ladyPreston1990 wrote:No problem! ... Sorry to hear about your boots Ms Thrifty and I hope that you get some comfy ones sorted.
Only just finished my dinner but will be heading off for my walk shortly, maybe not quite as fast as I would like due to being full.

Re: Weight Watchers
You're doing a great job in here, nice to see so much support for each other.
I made chicken salad with jacket potatoes for dinner trying to be good, daughter (8) who has been vegetarian is now started eating some meat again lately so I put a small bit of chicken on her plate, so she says she doesn't want it, so I say it's good for you, she say's 'it's not it makes you chubby and fat', I said 'don't be silly, it doesn't', she say's 'well it did you' of course her dad is now in fits of laughter, cheeky little madam!!

Maybe not but am acquiring some unwanted wobbly bits, put on half a stone over the past year and just can't shift it.lbaxx wrote:Rainey you are no way overweight!Rainey wrote:You're doing a great job in here, nice to see so much support for each other.

Out of the mouth of babes
Your dinner sounds lovely, I always seem to have cottage cheese with my jacket potato but chicken salad sounds nicer. MrG is the man to tone up your wobbly bits. (half a stone is not a lot of wobbly bits)

Re: Weight Watchers
I think you look great, but there again people say I am thin and I definately can't see that.Rainey wrote:Maybe not but am acquiring some unwanted wobbly bits, put on half a stone over the past year and just can't shift it.lbaxx wrote:Rainey you are no way overweight!Rainey wrote:You're doing a great job in here, nice to see so much support for each other.

I think it is what the person is comfortable with (but I don't think you have wobbly bits!)

Re: Weight Watchers
Hello boys and girls, I have just got back home...with suntan and sun burn from....Edinburgh! Is it just me, or is that sentence surreal? Its just me isnt it? Man, am I one naive dumbass, I went up there with woolly jumpers, thick jacket and I ran with a black running outfit...yep, real dumbass.
I was actually supposed to return last night but I decided to miss the flight...somewhat deliberately because after that epic run I had, I really needed to spend another night celebrating with my running partners our achievement and to enjoy the lovely city of Edinburgh for a while longer...to hell with the work I was supposed to do today!
When I say epic run...it was seriously epic. It was so hot and about 2/3rds of the way I suddenly got strains in my calf practically disabling me from going any further, so I had to go off to the sideline and treat it, message it, do some stretches so that the rest of my body muscles and veins dont suddenly tighten up on me. It was a point of contemplation...is this it? I came this far and this is where it ends? Then I thought of you guys, my champions of support and encouragement, I thought of Diane and anyone else watching my progress on runkeeper, then I thought of Get Kids Going charity and then I thought, NO WAY IN HELL IS THIS THE END, so I got back on to the road, I walked slow flexing my joints with dynamic stretching as I trundled forward, I then started to walk briskly, Diane style, until I felt comfortable enough to jog, and from that point on I jogged, I couldnt quite do a proper run though for a long while but jogging was still progress and on I went, telling myself I am going to finish, I am awesome, I will finish, I am awesome, I will finish. I am afraid I could not afford to be humble with myself, I had to fool myself that I am awesome, and I will finish...
...and finally I did. Jesus, you have no idea how elated I was. The cheering towards the end had me sprinting to the finishing line. The spectators were fantastic. It tuns out I am in the top half of the finishers at position 7132 out of 23000ish runners. I cant believe that but thats what the stats say. So I am quite happy with that.
And if wasnt for you wonderful friends here, I might have given up at that 2/3 mark, I may have struggled to find that motivation so thank you guys, you were there for me in spirit, I felt it. Thank you for your support, your incredible kindness and your donations, I am overwhelmed and I see some of you have gone out of your way to promote my run...I dont know what to say, I feel so guilty to have done so little to bring awareness for the charity I was running for, my god, Preston, you even dared to expose yourself to Beate's whip for me (do not endanger yourself like that again you hear!) and you too Diane and Ms Thrifty, thank you so much and forgive my lack of promotion for the charity and lateness for setting up the sponsor page.
Naturally I am walking perfectly normal if I was a crab. But another days rest, I shall now look towards joining the Valda led tickerfactory signature progress bar thingy and embark on getting the body fat down back to 13% so I can climb up that squash ladder again and return to faster times on shorter runs because quite frankly, if I had mantiained the fitness Ihad of last year, I should have done that marathon in 4hrs. So that will be my next target. Always have your targets,
As we seem to be in a phase of hot weather, I need to stress to all of you, before you do any long walks or exercises, make sure you are hydrated BEFORE your activities. Do not wait until you feel dehydrated, you must never ever come to that point. Always drink enough water before and during your exercises.
During my marathon, I witnessed several people being treated and it was quite clear they looked dehydrated. There was even a runner who was swaying side to side as if he was drunk. Officials had actually grabbed him off the road, and I suspect as I passed them by they knew he was dehydrated and the brain gets affected, very dangerous. I had ensured I drank water before my run and during the race, I capitalised on grabbing water from ever waterstation along the way...Sure as hell needed a lot of it.
During my run, I actually got talking with a fellow runner who is a policeman. First time he was doing a marathon too, we were about 8 miles from the end. He seemed to be doing ok and determined to finish but he was starting to find it daunting. As I was in my recovery phase from my calf problem, I said to him, think of me as culprit to catch and so I quickened my pace and he pursued, lol. I kept teasing at him, "you have no idea of things I've done, you might even be promoted if you catch me"...this little banter resulted in a lot of ground covered until I felt I recovered enough to pull away from the coppa and head for the finish line, I hope he finished, he did look determined, I wondered if he actually believed he might get promoted if he caught me??
I'll talk more about the awesome time I had in Edinburgh elsewhere but what a great city. I have to stop writing right now though as I am very sleepy..., I could have slept on the train but I got chatting all the way with some....zzzzz

WooHoo - You are back MrG - Fantastic Job!!
You've run an awesome race!....................I'm loving the drama and the dogged determination you've shown against adversity in your account of it. You should be very proud of your achievements!
I thought you said before you went that you were not fully prepared for it. If that was you being not fully prepared, then I can't wait to see what you can do when you are.
) but would it not be more accurate to describe it as a top third position!!!!
Anyhow, it's great to have you back amongst us again. I was just about to hit the sack when I noticed your post had come in - so this is just a quick initial response. Talk again soon.

..............You are an awesome athlete - but at the same time it seems to me that you are a lousy mathematician, because my friend surely that's not a top half position (well actually I suppose strictly speaking it isTheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:It tuns out I am in the top half of the finishers at position 7132 out of 23000ish runners.

Yay! Delighted to see you did so well and hope you are now resting in your bed!
I'm glad the weather was good, though maybe just a little too good for a marathon. We are certainly having a freak spell of weather as your original wardrobe choice would normally be fine! All 4 seasons in one day is not uncommon!
Congratulations on your great achievement
. . . when's your next?????
