I don't really have a recipe for things as I am a "bung it in and see" cook. The lentil and bacon soup is one of my husband's favourite.

I dissolve 3 Knorr ham stock cubes in a large pan with probably about 2 litres of water (have never measured the water as I know by the pan how much to put in but better to start with less and add more if too thick). One teacup of red lentils, one grated carrot, one medium sized chopped onion, one large diced potato, one teaspoon of dried herbs. I don't soak the lentils but you can if you want to.
Bring to the boil and simmer while grilling four rashers of back bacon. Chop the bacon into small pieces and add to the pan. Simmer until the potato has boiled down and thickened - I use a potato masher to mash it down if the potato pieces are still whole. Season with salt and pepper to taste. You can then see if it is too thick and add some more water. This makes enough for 6 people so I usually freeze some.

Welcome back havingascreen and I'm sorry to hear that you have been unwell.

I will have a go at that lentil soup, I haven't had lentils for ages.
Preston1990 wrote:Diane, I see that you are walking to and from the cinema these days - how is that going?
I love it and it combines my exercise with my trip to the cinema (I can only do it to the Trafford Centre as the others are too far to walk to); I politely declined offers of a lift home from akh43, yogi and steve.

Its weigh in day today  I'm hoping for at least 1lb as it will be started to slow down now :cross: I've put in my weight, height, calorie intake, exercise levels etc into a few web sites and if I don't have my treat day (I can't see that happening) I should be on target by the 31st August so I'm aimimg for 30th September :cross:

Menu of the day:
Porridge and black coffee (300 calories)
Jacobs savours, pate, cucumber followed by a yoghurt and a banana (400 calories)
2 egg mushroom and onion omelette and salad (I'm copying you Biggins) followed by weight watchers strawberry mouse and fresh strawberries (400 calories)
100 calories to spare for after my walk.

Exercise I will do 2 miles after the cinema around a water park (it will be too dark to do much more) and I will do the arm section of my DVD.

Enjoy your triathlon Preston1990 o/ Biggins I hope that you are working on your legs ready to kick stuartboy in the shins ;)

Have a good day everyone and good luck with the weigh ins, is yours on a Friday Biggins?

Starting my day well with granola, yoghurt and blueberries. Lunch will be some homemade veg soup as it is rather dull and cold here today!!!
After that who knows as we are going to stay tonight in a lovely country hotel through the West (a groupon deal). So don't know what will be on the menu but you know what they say- SOME THINGS ARE WORTH THE WEIGHT!!!! ;)

Laughing about that just now but will not be on Friday morning no doubt. :(

Have a great time, biggins, and don't assume you won't be able to keep up the good work. The occasional treat is fine but you might even find you don't want to indulge as much as you think! Eating sensibly becomes a habit like any other and when you think about all the effort you've invested, you may not go too wild anyway.

Great to see you while you were up here. It was all very last minute Biggins, i was rushing about on Friday after work getting ready to go, i'd planned to email you back but ran out of time but i'm sure Glassy will be back and you'll meet him.

I've actually started losing weight at last and am now 13 stone, probably cause i've been ill but my exercising has gone by the wayside so i'll have to get toning myself up again, zumba's on holiday this week.

Great to see so many fmukers active on this thread, lots of good work and effort going on o/
It was great to see you too and thanks for inviting my friends and I to that excellent cultural show :) I'm sorry I didnt get to see everyone, my fault really as I didnt notify when I was coming exactly until last minute :(

I have the link in my signature now if you want to sponsor me :) Thanks again for all the congrats everyone.

Well done on your weightloss. I tell you what though, Edinburgh has no shortage of hills, that town is probably the hilliest town I've ever seen! Perfect town for keeping fit ;)

I shall start my tickerfactory signature today or something similar as I want to measure body fat% and muscle mass, rather than weight. I rested on Monday and was going for a little jog to the cinema yesterday but EJwrank ordered me to rest another day, so I did. But today I will jog to the cinema and watch that snow white film and I may play some cricket this evening.

I am loving what you guys are doing by announcing what you ate and intend to eat today so I'll join in :)

This morning I had: Mackerel, sweetcorn, peas, tomatoes and lentils (350kcal). Mackerel is a very healthy fish, it is very high in Omega than other fish. I had milk tea with it, no sugar. If you drink tea/coffee with sugar, try drinking it with less sugar or none at all.

mid morning brunch: mixed nuts, seeds and raisins (300kcal)

My total for the day will be 1500 - 1600 calories. That's apprx 300kcal per meal, 5 meals in the day. On Sunday, I will have whatever I like with moderation and probably eat about 2000-2200 kcals

I dont measure calories tbh, I just make sure I eat QUALITY calories as best I can. I eat slowly so my brain knows when I am full enough.

Make sure you all drink lots of water through out the day! The most magical potion of all, so much benefits in health and fat loss.

Keep it up everyone, I feel such a powerfully strong bind in motivation in this group, you're all just simply awesome o/ o/ o/

Yes, what Ms Thrifty said, enjoy your treat! Its your reward for your self discipline. Treat yourself every week, its actually important that you do...that's the good news ;)

BUT do so with moderation... you know, dont silly things like gulp 5 spoons of maple syrup...yuch!

Go for it girl lifes for living and have a fabulous time.

I'm quite envious of the men being allowed more calories and sad as it is I love counting calories and weighing things

I've lost 1lb this week which I imagine if I'm good which I will be will probably be my average weight loss from now on but I'm more than happy with that o/ (I have the fear of loose skin that MrG mentions. :noo: )
