Re: Rock of Ages
It's the stage show that's billed as "Rocky Horror meets Spinal Tap" :)

Re: Rock of Ages
This is brilliant, especially the comments underneath. I am sure I have a few horrors of my own in old albums.canadian_turtle wrote:Awkward 80s family photos as part of a Rock of Ages contest.

Re: Rock of Ages
It's nowhere near the quality of Rocky Horror or Spinal Tap. They should have made an effort to write some original songs instead of butchering old hits. And being a fan of rock music in general doesn't mean you will automatically love Rock of Ages. It's exactly why I didn't like it. It's more for the Glee audience than rock fans.

Re: Rock of Ages
As I said, it's the tagline of the stage show, not the film. And since it's a jukebox musical that means that obviously the songs are all covers.

i don't agree sorry... I HATE GLEE but I LOVED this. I think they did a particularly good job with some of the mashups really, they really could have messed that up big time. I enjoyed the film.i cringed a bit but mainly i enjoyed it!thedude wrote:It's nowhere near the quality of Rocky Horror or Spinal Tap. I thought Tom Cruise was actually quite good though it took me ages to get over the initial shock. That first shot of him was BRILLIANT and the arse cheeks. hilarous.
To see Paul Giggamante singing was such great casting too.... and that tash!! well it needs a name of its own!

Re: Rock of Ages
I agree as I absolutely hate glee and wasn't a huge fan of the stage production, but thoroughly enjoyed this and though the 'I want to know what love is' duet was very Rocky Horror. Sure enough the lead characters should have been a lot more Rock and a lot less Pop and sugar but nowadays Hollywood is careful not to alienate the Bible Belt. Anyway apart from a few cringing moment the film is a feel good musical. I would gladly do back to see it again on the big screen especially if there is a singalong!
Preferred Cinemas: Gate, Coronet, Odeon Kensington, Whiteleys, Vue Westfield, Shepherds Bush, The Lexi or any West End Cinema

Re: Rock of Ages
This film was not for me. I found it quite silly most of the time, sometimes ridiculous and some bits disgusting. I mean, if you have nothing else to do for an hour and a half and you are bored, like a lot of people I know, then why not watch it but I have better things to do with my time. I am not a fan of rock music, but only some of the music was rock. I would say I enjoyed about 30% of the film. I am embarrassed to say that part of this percentage was the cheesy love story and the part that I enjoyed the most was the boyband. How did they manage to transform the unattractive male lead to a very attractive guy in a boyband? (sweater/jacket apart)

Re: Rock of Ages
Glee is cast with teens who cant act, and only intermittently put on a good singsong, and often pick crap songs to sing anyway. Its meant for kids who think Kate Perry is the Goddess of Rock.
ROA wholly consists of prime acting material, and bows its head in reference to numerous established platinum selling rock bands who wrote some of the best rock music of all time.

Re: Rock of Ages
Also, can I clear something up: Rock of Ages covered "Don't Stop Believing" several years BEFORE Glee
