Editing-bloody appalling! This should not have been more than a 90-minutes film! Running at 124 minutes -feeling like a slow paced 150 minutes- it killed the entire thing for me!
The first 20 and the last 20 minutes are fresh and fun; this could have been a good rom-com; this is not!

Somewhere in here was a good film waiting to get out. It was too long and dragged out - particularly in the middle. 6/10 from me.

Re: The Five-Year Engagement
This film had such potential but was sadly wasted. It had everything going for it: decent humour, good script, extremely likeable leads and a sweet story but it just seemed to go on and on and on. It felt like it had a beginning, 3 middles and an end!
This could have been an excellent rom-com but the pacing is incredibly poor and it was badly edited. There were 3 walk-outs in my screening. I guess they got fed up thinking it had finished, only for another act to begin!

I thought it was OK. Yes it was too long but generally a pleasant film that really just meandered along. I liked the leads.

Re: The Five-Year Engagement
I used a voucher to see this on Thursday at 4.10pm. Only 3 of us in cinema so very peaceful. I agree with previous comments re length and disjoint feeling of middle section. The film was ok to watch for free on a rainy afternoon. If I'd pa*d I wouldn't have been too upset as film was fine. Characters were likeable and I did want a 'happily ever after' ending.

Re: The Five-Year Engagement
I also agree with the comments re length and score. I saw this yesterday as it was the only film I had any desire to see and which I could fit in before a matinee, but it could have done with some savage editing and a decision as to whether it was a rom-com or a bromance - it seemed to me to straddle the two genres uneasily.
