As someone who absolutely LOVES Family Guy, I expected nothing less than a laugh-a-minute, pop-culture-laden marathon with a hint of social commentary. What I got wasn't just disappointing, it was forced, unsubtle, puerile and plain unfunny. There were a few belly giggles here and there but on the whole I thought it pretty much sucked. At times I even found it boring, obviously in stark contrast to the rest of the audience members who laughed hysterically throughout and applauded it at the end.

It bothered me that Seth McFarlane chose to use his Peter Griffin voice for the teddy bear - he really should have borrowed Brian's all-knowing, intellectual persona. This is also the first movie I've ever seen that spoofs a spoof.

Like The Dictator which I expected to love but didn't, this falls into a similar category of 'thoroughly underwhelming'.

The gift was a Flash Gordon DVD. Now THAT made me lol.

I found this amusing in parts but not as funny as the trailer suggested. Most of the jokes are crude and some even fall flat. It also felt long and dragged in the middle section. It definitely didn't deserve the applause during and at the end of the film. The best part was the cameos and the gift of the Flash Gordon DVD at the end.

Disappointing. 6/10.

(I actually preferred The Dictator)

I liked it, but the dictator was funnier. 7/10

I enjoyed this quite a bit. It had enough solid laughs to justify it's initially gimmicky sounding premise. Not all the jokes worked and occasionally relied a little too much on dodgier material to get it's laughs but when it worked it really worked and I laughed a lot.

Mark Wahlberg built on his surprising gift for comedy that he first showed in The Other Guys (his reactions in the scene where Mila Kunis is trying to remove an offending item from the carpet were priceless) and Ted was a fantastic creation even if MacFarlane did seem to be alternating between his Peter and Brian voices at times.
Mila Kunis could have been given some more funnier lines to say but managed to make Lori a surprisingly likeable character (a tendency to make the 'girlfriend' character a shrill whinger in other comedies was thankfully avoided here). Slightly disappointing that some decent comic actors like Joel McHale, Patrick Warburton and Bill Smitrovich were underused, though I did enjoy Giovanni Ribisi's slightly creepy dancing to Tiffany. Apparently there are also a few Family Guy/American Dad voice artists scattered throughout (aside from the obvious ones) though I didn't recognise them all (apparently Wahlberg's mum was Lois Griffin). I won't spoil the big cameos but did anyone else spot Curtis Stigers playing piano in the fancy Italian restaurant that Wahlberg and Kunis went to near the beginning?

Anyway, though Ted was no comedy classic I did enjoy it a great deal.

And yes the free Flash Gordon DVD was an amusing touch, though I already have the blu-ray.

I thought Ted was too long and not very funny and that's not because I'm easily offended, it's just that I thought it was too long and not very funny! The guys sitting to the left of me found the whole thing hysterical and often they seemed to be the only ones laughing. Those sitting to the right of me were pretty silent -- that was David, OH and Beate. Lovely to see so many FMUKers -- quite a reunion.

I didn't know there were other fmukers at Vue tonight :/

I found it... well... 'ok'. Not bad, not great. Too long, with little funny moments followed by long boring ones. To be honest, I spent most of the evening wondering:
a) how does Mark Wahlberg to look so young
b) how old he actually is (now I know I'm not that much impressed)
c) if I'd go or not to Burger King afterwards
d) what would be our goodie
Usually, when I think of all that, it's not a good sign. Yet I love offensive humour and quirky references... so it was ok.

The part of the night I preferred: when I left the cinema to enjoy a strawberry milkshake followed by a southbank walk in this lovely weather :shifty:
6/10, Teddy.

I can't bear (geddit?) Family Guy and American Dad as I find them extremely unfunny and don't see what is meant to be humerous about them. I do get South Park and The Simpsons though.

Please say I'm not gonna hate this! Trailer looks awesome though.

Well since i'm apparently the only one who liked this movie, odds are you'll hate it

I guess a few people liked it, but didn't LOVE it.
It's entertaining, but definitely not something I would p*y for.

Oh and loved the Flash Gordon DVD too, btw.
