If it's about the one/two/more wives: his older daughter is clearly half European, not that sure about the two others. If I'm correct, the older one talked about 'living in 26 houses", but then Rodriguez is said to have "been living in the same house this past 40 years". Maybe some tough times the first year, then a life a bit better. Not saying that his family is split in two, as his daughters seem to be closed.
That's the only thing I found curious about the film. Oh, and the fact they said there were no TV in South Africa during the Apartheid but the band (don't remember their name) played about a politician, implying to turn off the TV to stop seeing his face.
But I'm too annoying with details sometimes :shifty:

don't quite remember whether he mentioned this n the film or at the Q&A; but the little money he made when he first to SA went directly to his relatives; he is definitely not a man of money

One of his daughters mentions it in the film (or the voice-over, can't recall): money went to family and friends indeed! Great man...
It was the closing credits that stated that.
I'm wanting to increase my score already (I was the fisrt to score it after all so maybe I'm allowed? Lol) but Her Royal Beateness gave it the same score as me so maybe I'll leave it for now.

I know the soundtrack to the film is being released (as above) but do we think his back catalogue (of 2) and perhaps even the 3rd unfinished one might get re-released? I want them!

I've had a look at IMDB and the film hasn't been released yet, so there's only 2 reviews so far. I've got a friend in SA and I know that it still takes ages for films to come out there.

Re Royalties, I know from work, its really hard to find people. Each time something old goes out on DVD or sold overseas etc. We can only send the money to the address/agent we had at the time. When chqs come back, all we can do is try and find them on the internet. Sometimes you get a result, mostly not. A lot of the time the actors have moved away years ago, and sometimes they are dead.

In the flm, didn't the producer say that they only met him on street corners?
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Yes but the producers of his first album had an address. And then the South African labels sent the money to Clarence Avant, so even if they didn't have Rodriguez's address at that time....
Anyway, according to how Avant reacts to the question, the answer seems pretty clear.

I find it great and not great at the same time, sometimes it's better to keep things the way they are....
good for him and his fans, but I must admit I was hoping for him not to do another record as the myth is perfect this way. But I'm not normal so good for him anyway.

Me too. I'm thinking that by virtue of all these spoilers it won't be difficult to guess the reason for them for anyone not yet seen the film. I myself saw on IMDB that he was credited with a part in the film so I was actually shocked initially to discover when watching (or so I thought) that he was dead. Then of course everyone in the film refers to him constantly in past tense - even his family - until the big reveal. This was expertly done.
Another thought is going to be when the film is released. Surely he is going to be featuring on chat-shows and interviews? Not gonna be much of a secret anymore. Lol.
