Without wanting to be too intrusive, do you look like you've put on 2kg? If not, perhaps it's at least partly muscle? Might also be water retention? Don't worry too much though - it will even itself out and you'll be back on track. Maybe your scales are broken or need to be reset?

Well I was actually thinking that. My tummy seems quite bloated but apart from that I wouldn't have thought that I had gained any weight. Maybe the change in diet is the problem...

I will get my proper scales out again instead of weighing on the Wii fit every day (after dinner!)

Sorry for the lack of input this week but as you probably all know, I've had no car, no heating and no hot water this week so all my time has been taken up walking to my mums after work to shower and then borrowing her car and I've done all my home visits on foot, so I have had plenty of exercise but the diet has been a bit rubbish as it's freezing in the kitchen!
I've now got a new battery in my car and the new boiler is being fitted in the morning, so I will be back on form in the morning. I can walk to work in the morning as I work just a mile away from home on a Saturday, for exercise and I'll b*y the telegraph so will be part of this community again. :D

Oh cripes, I forgot to b*y the telegraph. Let us know if they're any good, Diane65, and perhaps you can tell us if there might be some secret tips that we havent heard of yet ;)

My gym shut down for 4 days in the last week not because of snow but because its too cold! The heating system apparantly cant cope, absurd!

I just watched a documentary that I had recorded a wile back. Was very interesting. Some main points from it:

When you skip a meal, or let your body go very hungry, the brain automatically switches on your sugary fatty food craving! As soon as you see anything sugary, your subconscious mind is compelling you to eat it, eat it now! So make sure you never skip meals and keep that horned devil at bay :)

A meal containing the same nutritients when taken in soup form, enables you to digest and benefit from most of the nutritients in the meal. If taken in its normal solid form, much of the nutrition is passed through. They did a group test on this. I dont think I'll change my eating habits based on this though buts its interesting to know.

Anakin's theory is interesting and probably right, and I hope she's right because that's a more desired theory than mine!

Just reading what detox diet is about. This site is a good site for unbiased reporting on such things, gives both advantages and drawbacks.

Note what the critics say at the end on page 2 as well.

I take it you went on it as a spring board but not something to follow for life. Thats great actually. I think however, the weight put on is simply your "side effect" of the diet. From what I have learnt so far, any special diet you go on would likely give you the results you were aiming for by the end of the special diet. But when you cease the diet, the weight goes back on with a vengeance even if you are sticking to the same calories because its the quality of those calories that matter not just the quantity. Is there enough protein? For a balance you should have 50-55% carbs, 30% protein, 15-20% fat. Was the daily calorie budget from the diet too low to start with?

But dont worry about that. You're on the bandwagon, and it just went a little off course, just reign the horses back on it but dont go on a special diet path, just stick to the healthy eating for life track ;)

A lot of what I say is a bit repetitive but I feel I need to say the important things often so it is not forgotten, myself included!

Well I'm still eating healthy and being good but have to admit I did have some chocolate biscuits over the weekend...

But hey, got on the Wii to weigh yesterday and lost 5 pounds! So yes, it was probably water retention or just a different time of weighing.

Interested to read.

I wasn't being overly serious about the 'detox' aspect of it. I am mainly just eating lots of fruit and veg and superfoods and cutting out sugar. I am not taking any scary supplements or anything like that!

Well done jmd1983 on your weight loss, way to go!

I'm gong along steadily but I can feel my jeans are a little tighter so I need to relax and not think to much about it and things will fall back into place. My main hiccup this Christmas was a whole Chocolate Orange :oops: (no it's mine not Terry's) ..opps but I did get 20 of them from the Argos sale… :blink: no not for me but the community cinema, just sneaked one :D

I also haven’t been to the gym with the children being off school so that's a goal this week, getting back into a routine.

I’m seeing my NHS health advisor on Friday, which I’m looking forward too.

Good stuff JMD! Just out of interest, do you have the Wii fit or the new Wii fit Plus.

Allsinging, I also went to a dietrician after getting the referral from GP about 6 weeks ago. The dietrician looked at my print outs of my spreadsheet which included the daily meals, calories etc. She looked at me with a WTF look and kind of stuttered a complement that actually had a tone that sounded "uh, maybe you just a tad obsessed". But she looked at the diet and pointed out things like, eat more veggies in your later meals and replace some of your fruit juices with fruits. Took down my weight and waistline and then made an appointment for 4 weeks to check my progress then. I like that she sets another appointment because that kind of gives me another intermediate goal. Another award point for the NHS :)

Right I am back!!! After a whole week of trying my hardest Ive lost a pound! all on my own, I know it doesnt sound like much but am feeling optimisitic. I gained 7 pouns in total over xmas and I have 6 pounds to lose to get back to where I started.....and thats my mini goal at present.


Well done to all you losers! ......I hope I become a regular loser too!

I also lost a pound, but I wasn't being very good :oops:

Before Christmas I'd started pigging out and gained about 11 pounds. The first week back after the holidays, I got a really bad stomach virus and lost a fair bit of weight, then put a couple on again, once I started eating. I reckon I've got about 7 pounds to lose to be back at my pre binge weight.
