Re: London 2012 Olympics
Is anyone else finding the live BBC iPlayer feed frustrating?
Even though I have selected the swimming heats, it keeps flicking over to the other channel (which is just an aerial view of the olympic park) and not particularly stimulating.

We have dropped to 12th in the medal table.
Let's hope Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton bring home the gold in the cycling!

Re: London 2012 Olympics
I wonder whether more people are now going to London on spec or resuming their normal activities, as I had to stand on a London-bound train even mid-morning today, whereas it had looked as though people were staying away. Maybe the sudden acquisition of so many British medals has encouraged would-be spectators?

Re: London 2012 Olympics
I feel very sorry for those badminton players. So many people are so quick to condemn them without realising that in most sports with this type of so called Round Robin tournament, teams try to lose to gain an easier route to the finals. I would have booed too if I was watching it live but I would want to know why are they playing like this. So put yourself in the players shoes. Coach tells you to try lose the game, to gain an easier route and have better chances to win a medal and for you and your country. What the f*** do you do? Its a trap. Would the first thought in your mind be to, no f*** the medal, I need to entertain the spectators, they pa*d money to see a good show? A confident champion with immense pride may well think that way but the rest of us...I doubt it. If they knew they had to play to win or be disqualified then we would have seen a different game being played because then there would be an incentive. But no such rule was ever made known and I suspect never established (I might be wrong there). Its the organisers responsible for these rules who are really to blame. I mean think about it, what do spectators expect when they see 2 teams play each other without any incentives to win. Every game needs an incentive to win, not to lose. I am a sportsman (crappy amateur) and I know I would not play my best if there is no incentive to win. Does that make me a cheat, in what book?
Sorry just wanted to vent that out when I just read their appeal was rejected.
Ahem...Go GB :) 12th rank at the moment....but more medals will come :)

Re: London 2012 Olympics
I don't understand how losing at this stage wouldn't have meant they were eliminated anyway, though?
Re: London 2012 Olympics
I don't suppose any of you guys have contact details for somebody working in the Olympics ticketing department?
I have an extremely URGENT refund matter which I desperately need to chat to someone about.
This is about as close as I will probably ever get to a life-and-death matter so if anyone can assist, believe me I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you.
FYI the numbers provided on the website lead straight to an automated voice message which cuts off after 2 minutes and e-mails return with a 'high volume of queries' auto-response.
