Take This Waltz

#1 Post by Octopus » Wed Jun 27, 2012 11:45 pm

When Margot (Michelle Williams), 28, meets Daniel (Luke Kirby), their chemistry is intense and immediate. But Margot suppresses her sudden attraction; she is happily married to Lou (Seth Rogen), a cookbook writer. When Margot learns that Daniel lives across the street from them, the certainty about her domestic life shatters. She and Daniel steal moments throughout the steaming Toronto summer, their eroticism heightened by their restraint. Swelteringly hot, bright and colorful like a bowl of fruit, Take This Waltz leads us, laughing, through the familiar, but uncharted question of what long-term relationships do to love, sex, and our images of ourselves.

Stars: Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Luke Kirby and Sarah Silverman

Actually less than 2H if you believe IMDb, but I agree I was very bored!
How can you pretend to depict a love triangle and write properly only 1 of the main character! That really did not work for me. Michelle Williams is amazing as usual but her talent is not enough to bring the film together. What did she find in any of those 2 men? I have no idea.

Well you were tired after being out so late last night - but have to agree it was very disappointing. Who was interested in all these silly things she and her husband said to each other - was that supposed to be funny? :noo: It was sooooo slooow.
She gets a new love in her life and all was supposed to be fantastic but why the three in a bed scenes with both sexes!! Were they not content just with each other.

Guess the moral of the story is that it all is sex and fun in the beginning but reality sets in and we all end up with the mundane daily routines in life.

Wonder if it would be the same living with George Clooney??

Boring, self indulgent -- we didn't like this at all.

I was cheesed off about having to miss this, but don't feel so bad after reading these reviews. I would say that the Bollywood remake might be an improvement on the original, but on this basis, there won't be a remake. Not even mixed opinions here so far, but perhaps once more people see it, there'll be some favourable comments?

I suppose for one thing I'm mindful of the fact that some of you gave up your time this morning and were disappointed and for another, I'm reluctant to give up entirely on this film as it sounded like one of the few coming up which would appeal to me! That seems to leave Hope Springs... and that's not until September!
