Re: The Hunger Games
I want to win too! I honestly think the first few seconds of the actual games would be made so much better with the original blood effects. Or maybe I just like Battle Royale too much.

Re: The Hunger Games
I got to see this film last night. I personally didn't agree with the 12A rating, as I don't think it's acceptable for 8 year olds to see young children being killed. I know you don't see them getting stabbed, but you do see blood squirting in the air, necks being broken etc. I think the BBFC should have rated it a 15, although it was originally rated a 15, and then the studio cut parts out so it was more suited for a 12A. I thought that not much happened in the first half of the film, and then it finally really came to life when the 'games' began. The acting was ok, I was sure it was Lenny Kravitz and this was confirmed when the credits came up, and also my sister noticed the actress from 'Orphan' in the film too, playing another murderer lol. I also didn't like it that they killed the little girl Rue off
Overall, it just felt too much like a slightly watered down Battle Royale. I don't understand why the parents didn't put a stop to the 'games', I know they did in one part, but surely all the districts could have made a stand and said no? And I wanted the main characters to go and get revenge on the organisers, so was a bit dissatisfied with the ending. Also, i'm not familiar with the books, but I hear they're doing a trilogy, so i'm not sure where they will go with it. Personally it should be left at just one film. So overall, a bit too much talking during the first half, and then when the 'games' began half the characters were killed off very quickly, so it all felt a bit silly and pointless. I can't give it higher than a 3/5 and that could be me being a bit generous.

Re: The Hunger Games
12A means that a film is not recommended for a child below 12 (as the film is only suitable for 12 years and over), so not sure where the 8 year-old comes in there?Agent-S wrote:I got to see this film last night. This is explained in the other books where the story turns more political.Agent-S wrote:I don't understand why the parents didn't put a stop to the 'games', I know they did in one part, but surely all the districts could have made a stand and said no? Re: The Hunger Games
12A means children under 12 can see it if accompanied by an adult.

Re: The Hunger Games
I suppose they could but it's really recommended they don't. The exception being those that for instance are 10 years old but are more grown up than that and able to watch a 12A film.

Explain that to the parents who insist on bringin their babies into a screening! Jus because they can doesn't mean they should as baby will not appreciate film anyway!
